Fatigue

Has fatigue ever killed a good round for you.

So to give you a quick back ground on friday night I went to range hit ~80 balls then went and played hockey for three hours the night before a tourney @ the club. Well woke up late and hit about 50 balls before round. So I go and play this Man in the box tourney @ the club and my team ended up in 2nd place(net) and I won two net skins so I was pretty happy about the day so far.

Well my buddy was in town that i havent played a round with in a good couple months so we decided to get out a play a round while he was in town. Well I started out the front nine not great but not horrible I felt as if I had a great chance of posting my best score @ this course which has been kickin my ass. Well all the sudden we get to about hole 14 and i start slicing the Fu(k out of everything and just cant swing the club. I notcied that my swing started to have a little flying elbow that I just couldnt fix. I managed to save the round and shot my average but I just am so mad cause I felt that It could have actually been a pretty good round.


So I guess basicallyI was just wondering if this has happened to any of you.

I don't think I've ever had fatigue ruin a round per-say. I HAVE had beer ruin more rounds than I can remember. Maybe there's a lesson there.

Holy crap dude, I'd need a nap after the 80 at the range. Honestly though, I have right elbow problems, I save my elbow for rounds of golf, I don't hit that many balls at the range unless I'm simply trying to work out some problems. And I certainly don't hit 50 before a round!! That's just me though. you're a 22 year old guy, I'm nearly 40 and feeling it!

Just eat some good energy foods, Bananas and Apples are high in natural sugar, they're great for energy on the course and easy to just throw one of each in your golf bag.

ANd btw, it has been 90-something for the last month, certainly wore me down a little extra.

Yeah I didnt meant to play hockey for three hours just lost track of time. But 80 balls isnt a big deal normally to me I normally hit about 8 to 10 balls a club and then the morning of the tourney i couldnt hit $hit so i was trying to get swing back. I think my hockey shot ruined my golf swing cause night before i was stroking em @ range. lol oh well ill learn better for next time.

yes, I will make bad decisions and rush my shots. I have been running the last three days at least a mile run with 1/2 mile walk just prior and that has helped my endurance.

I looked at my stats and found that I generally shoot a couple strokes better on the back 9. I expected that, because as I get tired I minimize movement and take only the actions I have to. As well, I take my time and pause before shots. I also dial my aggressiveness back, and hit with a bit less energy. As a result, I shave a couple strokes off.

I've gotten very tired out on a course, yesterday I walked 18 after hitting 45 balls on the range, but no matter how tired I am I've never had fatigue cost me but a stroke or two at most. If anything I play better.

It used to - then I started walking as much as possible and hitting the treadmill for a 10 degree incline walk while playing the Xbox at least once a week. The only issue I have now is thigh rash (I'm still kinda chunky), which is a real bitch.

Earlier this summer I could tell after walking 9 holes the last 2 on my home course I always got sloppy with. After getting in better shape; I walked 18 just today and I was able to keep my consistent(ly bad) game which I was rather happy about.

If I decide to go out and walk golfing; I generally don't do much otherwise to stay fresher for the round.

We decided to walk a round last week at one of the shorter courses. Only the second time I've walked this year. Started at 8:30 and by the back 9 it was a smooth 100 degrees. I shot a 41 on the front but was completely give out by number 15. I had a pretty good round going than double, double, double. I shot a 44.

I was done....

It doesn't have to be physical fatigue, either. Being mentally worn down or occupied will cause the same issues. Bring some energy food, and keep the attic clean of clutter.

I've been fighting some kind of foodpoisoning/stomach bug/biblic plague for the past 5 or 6 days and I feel like it's cost me strokes each time I played during that time...

Last friday, it was 88 degrees with about 4 million percent humidity, and I shot 80 even though I had a good swing and wasn't hitting it in bad places. Why? Poor shot selection/shape. I had one hole where I hit a shot where I was flatly misaimed. Hitting wedge shots (that require feel and concentration) below my expectations and as a result not getting up and down. Being worried about whether I was going to poop myself or drop from dehydration instead of the pin placement as I walked to my second shot. Etc.

I shot an 80 that should have been a 69. Usually, I shoot a 74 that should be a 70.

Fatigue hits me on the 1st few hot days every year. Usually some wheres on the back 9. It definately affects my play. I always have been a cooler weather person.

Try doing olympic barbell squats before a round - then you will know what fatigue feels like!

Dehydration would be the biggest culprit.

Sip water and eat food, little and often as sweets and chocolate can wreck a round due to the sugar levels peaking/falling
