Over the past several weeks, we've had a number of people who claim driving averages over 300 yards. Several folks who question those claims have requested videos of those awesome swings. Although I too am a bit of a skeptic, I have also been waiting to see those videos; if nothing else, to see what a 300 yard average swing looks like. I've never seen one this side the the Tour.

So I'm wondering..................Where are those videos?

Most of them are in the same place as the videos of Bigfoot, UFO's, Loch Ness monster, ghosts and the likes. They either don't exist or they are being photoshopped to fool us into believing.

Not saying there aren't any amatuers out there who can drive it 300 yards, but there are far more who either think they can and are wrong or just talk like they can.

i would be willing to post mine.. i have often been curious to see my swing on video. i havent seen it on video for about 5 years and I have made multiple alterations to my swing since then. i dont have access to a cam corder tho. I am however going to be going into a swing lab in the next couple weeks and when i get some footage onto a computer I will post my swing on here. Ive been wanting to do that for some time now.

have i hit the ball 300 yards? yes.

Diogenes has found an honest man here. When someone posts that 300 yard swing, I would also like to see the average, determined by GPS, of their last 100 consecutive drives. Until then, i will not be holding my breath.

I don't mean to perpetuate anything obnoxious on the forum, but I would be happy to post a video of my swing, despite being in a slight state of change right now.

My drives on Monday night were 292, 298, 310 and 324 on the 4 holes I hit driver that nine. These were paced off of course yardage, which is relatively reliable. It was about 40% humidity with slight wind that evening.

I do not have a perfect swing, and I am not as accurate or controlled as I'd like. But, I believe these yardages are a factor of with my stature and clubhead speed, and are congruent with iron distances as well. For what it is worth, I do not always hit the ball with same impact consistency that the better players do.

my video of my swing is floating around on this forum.

this past weekend, I hit my driver average of 290 (with range finder), with two drives that reached green on a par 4 320 yard, and 290 yard.

it really isn't as impossible to do as people say it is. I'd say my average is about 280 but I frequently hit 300. I'll venture to say I havent had a drive shorter than 250 in a very long time.

I raise my head up a bit before impact. I swing OLD SCHOOL, active core, foot work. I lift my front foot during the back swing. My leg movement starts the downswing.

I can believe that.

This last Saturday I crushed one 330. I don't have my own driver yet so I was using my friends new Superfast. I only had 3 good drives all day and this was my best one. I didn't realize the thread was about 300 yd average. I have no idea what I average is as I slice more than I hit straight.

Tell you what. You hold your breath waiting for a video including a long take where someone pounds out 10 or more drives averaging over 300 yards, and I'll hold my breath waiting for video of someone who can hit that many 100 yard wedge shots that finish an average 10-12 feet from the pin.

I average 290-310 a drive. I don't hit 360 like Bubba watson, but I HAVE hit 350 yard drives before (and not the downhill/downwind type). I've also been playing sports all my life, working out with weights, I'm short (5'8") and I don't have all the muscle I used to...but I have been playing golf for 7 years. I'm 21 years old and my driver has always been my best club. When you consider all of that, why SHOULDN'T I be able to drive it 300+ yards on average?

A lot of you are twice as old as me and have half the flexibility. Do I expect you to drive the ball as far as me? No. Do I expect to be able to hit the ball like this when I turn 40? Heck no.

So I ask...why is it so hard to believe? True, not many pro's can hit it 300...but look at the ones who CAN. They are all in their 20's (except Tiger).

I bet Fred Couples hits the occasional (if not quite frequent?) 300+ drive and he must be over 50 now? Technique trumps youth, in my opinion.

My friend will hit it 300+ about once a round. the other times he doesnt full swing or will play his 1 hybrid or somehting to 250 or so. hes an amateur at about a 4 hdcp but he very very rarely will put that much into his swing. Maybe thats why hes a 4 and every other guy with an ego is 8 or 10 and hits it 300 regularly. If you want I'll ask him to swing for the fences one day and videotape it. It really is a sight. He can't do it at most ranges or he gets yelled at. He can put his 1 hybrid over most range fences and it's a line drive.
He was about 280 out one day on a par 5 and I told him I'd play the rest of the hole naked if he got it on the green and it was the first time I saw him take a full swing and I damn near crapped myself. He put one of his hybrids 10-20 yards short and I got to keep my shorts on. Wind was hell that day too like every day in Hawaii. He still carries a 1 and 2 iron sometimes and drills those 250+ sometimes too.
I understand what you're saying, most guys can't reliably hit it that far and are all talking isht but there are amateurs who can. The better ones realize that it's more trouble than it's worth though.

Just went back and read most of the other posts. If anyone wants to put $$ down this kid will play anyone for any amount. so if you want someone to video 10 300 yards drives for good dough he's up for it. He told me, anytime anyone brings up any golf challenge just ask em how much and put me down.

Robert Garrigus, Brett Wetterich, Angel Cabrera, John Daly, Charles Warren, Phil Mickelson...

thats 6 PGA players in top 10 driving distance that are all well above 20. The rest all average flaot around 295-299...so I'd say age has nothing to do with it.

    • Went to a PING fitting day today. Going to be ordering a G430 Max 3w with a 75g x-stiff shaft at 5w length and a 3h. I forget what my fitter did with the shaft on that but she told me she’s going to email the club the specs of everything. The 3w combination we found pretty quickly. As for the hybrid, we tried a bunch of different head and shaft combinations for that distance with mixed results. Then she handed me the 3h and I took three swings with it and knew it was the one.
    • Yeah, this isn't sandbagging. It's outright cheating. He should be banned.
    • That’s quite a generalization. It’s clear that you don’t like water but there are plenty of us that drink it just fine. My daily intake is usually about 20oz of black coffee, 16oz of soda, 8oz of milk mixed into a protein shake, and anywhere between 30-60oz of water. It doesn’t even need to be cold and I kind of prefer it closer to room temperature than cold. I quite like the taste of tap water, with sole exception being the tap water at Magic Kingdom (it’s terrible). I can’t stand when people bring me tap water with a lemon wedge in it. I didn’t ask for lemon in my water.
    • This is the part I don’t get. He’s not even kind of sandbagging, he’s blatantly doing it and submitting scores that are verified to be incorrect. How he’s not banned from competition is beyond me.
    • He's right in what he's saying.I also have done this experiment with a golf shaft swinging with one arm at a time.one arm at a time is for me very fast but both hands together are very slow ..I got my 17 year old son to do this experiment and he swung very fast with either hand and he swung very fast with both hands together..My conclusion up to now is ; I'm not using my wrists properly but I not a 100 percent sure just yet..I will keep trying to fathom this out .I'm a 12 handicap and my son is 3.9 at Westlancs..
