This just seems so wrong to me. The above company (an advertiser here) machines the face of normal legal drivers to increase their trampoline effect, becoming nonconforming "hot" clubs. Ah, so much for a game based on integrity!

By the way, no real mention of their warranty that you'll no doubt need when the clubface caves in because the machining leaves it structural unsound......

Agreed. Also, what is with all the manufacturer logos at the bottom of the site? I can't imagine any of these companies want to promote this type of "work" to their clubs.

The website is really thin on details as well. No real mention about actual methodologies, face thicknesses, or comparison data for before/after COR.

This is funny that you posted because I did have this same co shave a softball bat for me.... It gets like 30 more feet of distance.. Sometimes more.. I never had a driver done but I was gonna send out my old king cobra sz 460 to see what would happen. Since I don't play any leagues or for money I can get away with it. But if I get better and wanna do some tourneys and stuff I would have to keep it in the truck and not take it out on course.

They also sell non-conforming golf balls...I didn't see any foot wedges but I will take some of those too, and throw in some mulligans, bunker tees, red paint for those pesky white stakes, the automatic two putt option, and some gimmees. I should be scratch by next weekend.

Why spend all that money when you can just lower your score with an eraser and pencil?

I imagine there is a market for this "shaving." if they market themselves correctly, it will probably do well. When I bust one out there deep with my $100 at Dicks driver, and they fly it by me.... "I press.". They will probably miss the green with the wedge, chip like TC Chen and putt like Stevie Wonder.

Yep, doesn't matter how he got there, a cheat is still a cheat.

i would care if it was my friend playing with me because like it or not, when I play with my friends "for fun" we are still seeing who can play the best in the back of our minds but then again we also bet money sometimes

every athlete I know is competitive at any sport he plays, of course your just having fun tho

Rarely ever am I paying attention to my playing partners round, although it's pretty easy to know when you're being beat off the tee.

Here is how I see it:

If someone is willing to turn a conforming club into a non-conforming one at the tune of $100 for a few extra yards, he's probably also likely to play an OB as a lateral hazard, pick up 4 foot putts, and snag my ball when it's obviously in play.

Not a guy I'd want to spend a round with, and certainly not typical of playing partners.
