I had a set of clubs fitted(an entire set) and the driver I was told to buy is a 12 degree, the problem is I hit the ball so high it goes absolutely no where at all, the ball slices almost every single time and I feel I lose tremendous distance because I have a taylormade driver thats a 10.5 and it goes still very high but straight and alot further. Could the degree to high be messing me up or is it just my swing?!

The ball being the very meniscule factor.

Probably a combination of the shaft, 12* loft and your swing.

Last Monday I was at a Ping Demo day at my local course. I currently use a Callaway Edge 10* reg flex, standard length. 94 swing speed. The rep used the launch monitor and had me hitting a K15 12*, stiff shaft 1 1/4" long. I was 10 yards longer with the K15 then my Callaway. I was carrying the ball further with the 12* with less rollout but overall longer distance. The ball spin was also much less with the K15 12*.

BTW - I'm keeping the Callaway.

Ball? You have got to be kidding.

He says the ball is going high and nowhere with a huge slice. Are you sure he doesn't also need to address the colour of the tees he's using? And anyone who thinks that changing from a ProV1 to a Bridgestone E6 will cure a slice needs their head read, if that's the line you're going to take.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

Might be worth a second opinion....Arrange another fitting session and see if the results are similar. Also, take your existing driver with you and compare results.

It was stated that the ball is a meniscule (sic) factor. A situation that is currently producing high trajectory and high sidespin will be helped by a lower spin ball. It won't take you from "in the trees" to "in the short stuff" (getting back to the fairway will require the right swing/shaft/trajectory/ball/tee color/haircut/belt matching the shoes) but a lower spin ball will probably help the tee shot.

The ball is what... 5-10% in most similar situations?

If you are hitting the ball high and with a slice, it's hard to blame any of the equipment because a shaft that is too stiff would cause you to hit the ball out to the right but would not produce a higher launch angle. If the shaft is not stiff enough then you would be hitting dog hooks. Your number one issue when hitting the ball high and with a slice is the combination of flipping your wrists through impact while coming from an over aggressive inside to out swing path. So you are hitting up on the ball but you are leaving the club face wide open actually producing more loft. You need to make sure your hands are slightly ahead of the ball at impact. This will help the face close. I would mainly look at your swing and get a lesson from your local club pro to sort yourself out.

get off your soap box, remove your tampon, and stop all the damn yelling woman

I figured he was using a ball with a dung beetle clinging on the side for dear life throwing off the weighting

Loft of the driver has nothing to do with your slice, if anything it would increase backspin and reduce sidespin (making a slice slightly smaller). And it's definitely not the ball. A 12* might add a little height to your shot as compared to a 10.5* head, but it won't make the ball balloon or slice. You're probably swinging the PING driver differently than you swing the TaylorMade.
