With January just about over, how is your 2011 shaping up to be?

I think people are sick and tired of the negativity that this depression has brought us, and that things may be looking to get good again.

Am I wrong?  Are any of you noticing your business improving, your job prospects / pay / career getting any better?

I sure hope so, and hope I'm not the only one who thinks that 2011 is going to rock.

2010 was miserable, I have high hopes that mid  2011 will turn around but right now sadly it is much like 2010 but I have faith it will change big time. Too all that it is going well keep it up good luck and great. NO MORE Negatives.

2010 was the best year i have ever had, profits were higher then 09 (and 08) and we made several large investments out of operating capital, were able to defer major income tax hit and bought 3 new companies...honestly i don't know how 11 could be better then 10 but i am willing to try! if it is the same or even close it would still be a 2nd epic year (at least in our terms)...back to back baby!!!

  • 2 weeks later...

lets' see.... Congress getting ready to vote for a Continuing Resolution to keep the Gov 't running...being a 28 yr Fed employee, that costs taxpayers everytime that happens... now, the Under=Secretary for the DoD said this Am on TV, that the Defense budget will get sliced by more than they can sustain, but has to be done( as well as ALL Gov't agencies)...not good news for those in a combat zone in need of materials that comes from that "cut" budget...or those jobs hinged on the new Bombers or Submarines that WERE to be ordered... as for personal gain, as long as my bills are paid, my family warm and fed, and they are, I'm ahead of the game. Look at Pritchard, Ala, and you'll see where this is heading...do the reseach, and you'll see WHY many other cities are watching to see what happens, as well as the State of Wisconsin and theline drawn in the sand there over $$$$$$$$$$$..... this may be a good year for some whoi are lucky, or smart( or both), but it'll be a worse year for many,many more.... including some of my immediate family who can't find work...

2010 was a very tough year in all facets of life (honestly, perhaps the worst year in my last 20 years).  Soooooo glad it is over.

2011 is going reasonably well.   It will be turbulent on the personal front, but that is why I'm playing golf now--to clear my head.   The legal practice is going pretty good (wasn't bad in 2010).   M&A; is picking up and businesses are allocating more resources to us lawyers.   Started my own business 2 years ago and it is going strong.  I can't complain.

Better.

I've got a daughter on the way in June.

My wife and I are in a new home and are enjoying it.

I've got a part time gig writing SEO content for a website.

Job prospects are looking up.

2011 is looking better for me in that I should have more opportunity for overtime, Im not holding my breath for much of a pay raise though.

    • I would recommend spending some time at the range and film your swing. You can post it in the Member Swings thread. At the range, you can figure out how to control the driver a bit more. We can offer some pointers once you post in the Member Swings section.
    • With the H4 or the watch, you tag the club before hitting by putting the tag next to the device. The tag is on the club butt end. After a round, you don’t really think about it too much. You just do it. I don’t know how far you are from @phillyk, but he may know an instructor in your area.
    • So the biggest issue right now is marrying the hands down with an athletic turn. I can get stuck not turning. Things get interesting from there.

    • Hi everybody!  I am new to the golf game. I have taken some lessons and got fitted for clubs a couple of months ago. I usually score between 110-120 for 18 holes.  I bought a Stealth driver last year and have been hitting consistently with it 210-230 yds on the simulator. But when I take it out on the course, every drive is a severe slice!  I played 18 holes yesterday at the club where I belong. I removed the driver from my bag and used the 5 iron to drive with. I hit straight 16 out of 18 drives, 180 - 200 yds. I used the 5i - putter for the rest of my game.  I ended the day with a 92. Question: Does it make sense for me to continue playing with irons only until I get further along in my game before I reintroduce the Driver and woods again? Or should I continue to struggle with the Driver and woods and shoot in the 100’s again? To me it’s a no brainer, but for those more advanced I am interested to get feedback.
