Interested in upgrading clubs in the near future. I have hit both and really like both. I like the price tag on the G10's a little bit better, however, I am wondering if I should just pay the extra and get the G15's.

I know they say the G15's are some of the most forgiving clubs on the market, but in comparison to the G10's... are they that much more forgiving?

I have been playing about 2 years or so. I am consistently in the high 80's to low 90's. I dont want to work the ball just yet... my goal is to become a consistent ball striker and know that I can hit shots at any given time.

So which should I go for??

Thanks for the input guys. Greatly appreciated.

Personally, I would go with the cheaper G10's. They are great clubs. I had them (still do) but just got the S57's because I "needed" a new set.

Tested the G10 and i10 irons a couple of years ago when I swapped out clubs.  G10 has a high-launch head, plus a high-launch stock shaft. It just got the ball up in the air too much for me.

Same problem with the Callaway Big Berthas. I ended up getting the Callaway X20s, a UGI club with a mid-launch shaft.

If you have decent clubhead speed, you might want to avoid the G10s.

The G15s seem to be popular with a wide range of handicaps. A pro at a demo day said he recommends G15s to 20+ HDCP players, plus he plays them himself. He said G15s work best - as do all irons - if you have the right shaft for your game. Hint: get fitted.

Focus, connect and follow through!

Went today and got fitted...

Surprisingly they came up with exactly what the Ping Web Fit came up with.. Green dot, standard length. Stiff flex, steel shafts.

Still making the great debate... but leaning towards the G10s.

More input is welcome!

if you have any interest at all in the g15's, i would get them. only because they are pings top of the line club, and if you get the g10's you will always be wondering what the g15's would have done differently for your game, and how much more improvement they would have given. could be a mental thing that would never allow you to reach your full potential with the g 10's simply because you would be wishing you got the g15's. even if i had to wait a couple of extra months to save up, i would go for the g 15's.

I never hit the G-10's, but liked the G-15's alot.  I'd say if your budget allows, go for the G-15's.  There are some pro's using them, so you should be able to work the ball when you're ready, and until then you'll benefit from the forgiveness they offer.

I game the G 15 irons and love them but I say go for the G10's if saving a bit of money is important to you as these irons are very similar in thier design...

You say you got fitted for stiff flex steels shafts?  Was that the AWT shaft?  Did you know that they offer the Z-Z65 shaft as a stock option (wait I am not sure about that for the G10?).  Are you familair with the difference between the AWT and Z-Z65 shaft?

Well either way you will become even more a part of the PING family with which ever G iron you go with...welcome!

It was actually for the AWT shaft... I dont think the Z-Z65 came stock on the G10's.

I actually just ordered the G10's with the steel, stiff flex AWT shafts. 5-PW, LW...

Thanks for all of the words... got a stupid good deal on them, so I went ahead and made it happen. Cannot wait for them to come in!

Have had the G10's for 3 years this month; took them to Phoenix last year and had Ping bend the lofts to the G15 specs (about 1 degree stronger).  My wife had G10's also and ordered her G15's after that trip; said she couldn't believe the difference between the 10's and 15's; ordered mine Tuesday (6 - LW); got the 20, 23 & 27 G15 hybrids last week.  Looked long and hard at the Mizuno JPX-800's; in the end, had played Pings for more than 20 years and just couldn't get away from that look.

Congratulations!...

The AWT shafts are very good shafts (made by True Temper for PING...I think?) and are a progressive kick point shaft to help you get the ball in the air with your longer irons...plus there is no "up-charge".

Welcome to the family!!!

I am thinking about replacing my TEE hybrid (16 deg) with a G 15 hybrid 17 deg and possibly going to a 20 deg one as well...let me know how you like the G 15 hybrids as I have read conflicting things about them...but all I know is if they play anything like my G 15 irons then they have got to be sweet!

I don't see why there's a big debate.  The G15's are built on the same platform as the G10, which was an "upgrade" to the G5, and so on.  A couple of milimeters difference in Center of Gravity (CG) location won't make a big difference.  The color scheme doesn't make a difference.  THe G10's were "top of the line" when they came out... why wouldn't they be now?  Just because they're a little older?  If you hit them both and liked them both, get the G10's and use that extra $$$ on something else, like Ping shirts, a few lessons (everyone should at least take a few), or a few extra rounds this year.

Thanks Justin!!

Funny you say that... I just purchased a couple new Ping G10 hats and a Ping shirt. And a few rounds are always thrown in there.

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
