I don't get it.  You are already paying for your balls and clubs...why promote titleist or whatever as if you are not being paid by them or compensated in some way?

Maybe it's just me but if i'm buying my own clubs/balls etc... then i'm not going to ***** myself out and wear some company logos.  In fact if anyone knows where I can get good quality hats that are blank and similar to the ones they sell with brand logos in pro-shops I might consider having a few made with stuff like 'not for sale' or 'read me' or 'corp golf hats suck' or something.  :)

Pretty sure it's just you. I'm not sure what doesn't have a logo on it nowadays. Maybe for those people it adds confidence to their game? Who knows. I don't personally wear a hat - ever - but i do wear sunglasses and wouldn't think about scratching Diesel, Oakley, or Rayban off my glasses

Possibly because they like them?  Golfers wear golf-ish stuff when they golf.  Where's the mystery in that?

Seems like a weird topic. I wear Mizuno shoes and play with a Rawlings glove in baseball but I don't take the logos off.  This goes for other sports as well.  People usually wear brands that are associated with the sport.  I wear a Callaway hat but don't own and Callaway clubs.  I have many baseball hats but I wouldn't wear them on the course, just as I would never wear a golf hat to play baseball in.

I don't buy stuff with logos if I don't have to, a few of my shirts have small logos on them.  Maybe it's just me but i'm not a free walking billboard/ advertisement system for so and so club/ball manufacturer.  I'll wear a hat that has a golf course I play at or support or my favorite college team but that is because I have an invested interest in that particular thing.  (or in my case I don't mind letting people know which team i'm behind around here up front)

point being: i'm not paying $22 to $30 for a hat that is just an advertisement for clubs/balls.  If the hat was free then maybe but paying for it just seems ridiculous and backwards.  they should give out hats for free with clubs/balls you purchase if anything.

I agree.  I don't believe in paying an outrageous price for a hat and then donating my head as a walking billboard too.  They should be paying me (or at least giving the stuff away) for the privilege of getting the visibility.  There are rare exceptions when I am strongly behind a particular product, but I don't feel that way about anything I currently play golf with.  I don't have a logo on my bag (aside from the small plate with the manufacturers name "Calina"), or on my hat (I wear Tilley hats), or anything ostentatious on any of my shirts (a small manufacturer's label or a small course logo is ok).  I like my Titleist irons, my Mizuno 3W, my Callaway driver, my Bridgestone hybrids, but I don't feel any burning need to advertize for any of them.

I actually have a friend that pulls all the emblems and badges off the trunk of his car and demands that the dealership not put any stickers on it when he purchases it.  He leaves the front alone if there's something on the hood or in the grill, but he says that unless the dealership is going to pay him to drive the car around he doesn't want any of their crap on his car.

Well, that's not how the world works, not everyone gets freebies all the time. I have no problem with supporting golf companies. They aren't gonna pay me, but I don't expect them to - no amateur should.  Nor do I expect Honda, Ford, Toyota to pay their customers for driving their cars around the city.

That's fine you don't like wearing logos, but expecting to be paid for it when you do is outlandish.

I have a strong interest in golf and so I don't mind wearing a hat that has a logo on it for 4 hours once a weekend.

Besides, you;re on a golf course advertising golf brand - not as if golfers don't already know about the company you're advertising - and I may wear a branded hat or bag, but once they see me play - they'll think twice about associating themselves with that brand.

Great way to de-value a car. ( unless he keeps the emblems etc )

if you're referring to the dealer logos, i totally agree with you.  they don't do that in california, but it seems like its big in the mid west for the dealer to add a logo on the trunk, right under the "toyota" "lexus" "nissan" logo.  i can't believe people let them do this, i'd refuse to buy the car if it came w/ something like that.   in cali, most just add a license plate frame w/ the dealer name on it, which i promptly remove with a new, plain frame.

He removes both the dealer logos and the brand badges like "Toyota".  The trunk is completely blank.  I think it looks weird but he insists on it.  He's actually perfected a technique involving solvent and dental floss to get the badges off the paint without damaging it at all.  I just don't get it, though.  To each their own, I suppose.

    • Here is a description of all the programs:  Programs & Training Programs and Training TheStack is a personal swing-speed trainer for golfers. Initially, each golfer is piloted through a series of swing speed tests to generate a force-velocity profile of their current swing. Qualitative data is... I think cruiser is meant for maintaining speed and flex can do more than that. But I'm just basing that on the descriptions that I linked.
    • Both @DaveP043 and I play in our interclub matches every year, and have been team Captains as well.  There are always a few courses, mine is one, that win a lot of matches (we've won twice in the last 7 years), and we've been labeled as sandbaggers.  However, I really think that our course was rated too low (our greens just never seemed to get factored in enough), and thus our Handicaps were always a stroke or maybe 2 above, what they would've been if the course was rated higher.  And then when we went and played other courses, their slope and rating were much higher than ours, and sometimes I would get a 2 or 3 stroke bump on top of that.  It was definitely an advantage.  However, this past year, our course was rated again and the slope has gone up, so we'll see if we continue to have the same benefit.  Season starts this Sunday for us.
