Hi folks, I'm new as a poster here but I've been reading stuff here for a while now. The calluses on my left hand especially (I'm a righty, as you can see) have been irritated lately. What do you do about your calluses? Do you recommend sanding/stoning them off or taping them or what? Thanks and great to be here finally!

I typically use a rubbing stone on mine and it seems to get the job done.

you damn sissy!!!!!   LOL

All kidding aside, tape whatever you need to tape.  I'm a lefty who's taped his ' trigger finger" for what seems like since the beginning of time.......yea, something happened once to it 15+yrs ago, and it's been taped ever since.

I'm a righty and when playing multiple rounds a week, will tape the two middle fingers on my right hand. I'm a little self conscious about it, but it keeps the calluses away.

Titleist 909f3 13.5* Aldila NV

Ping S57 3-PW KBS C-taper

Buy some decent hand cream -- Eucerin is good -- and use it in the morning and evenings. File down or trim with nail scissors if they start to build up to the point of annoyance.

Stretch.

Ya know wha'ts funny is when you are picky about what tape to use.

You have two middle fingers on your right hand...freaky!  I get a callous on my right ring finger I'll tape that one.  Others as needed.

Calluses are good.  They protect you from blisters.  I bet you do a lot of practicing.  Depends on where the calluses are.  If on the fingers tape them.  If on the heel?  I don't know.  Just live with it.

If it's really bad use two gloves for awhile especially when practicing until they settle down.

Why is that freaky?   They are between the first finger and the fourth finger.

I generally think of the hand having five fingers, ergo one middle, usually the one raised towards awful drivers.  Poor attempt at humor.

Nope.  Four fingers.  One thumb.  If you're waving at a policeman use all five.

Thanks a lot. Yeah I haven't been getting calluses anywhere but my fingers, but a couple have just gotten to the point where the skin is kind of peeling off and they're annoying. I just want to settle them down, thanks.

Depends upon where the calluses are.  I get them at the base of the fingers (little finger and social (middle) finger.  I use a stone when they bother me.  If on the fingers use tape.

    • I would recommend spending some time at the range and film your swing. You can post it in the Member Swings thread. At the range, you can figure out how to control the driver a bit more. We can offer some pointers once you post in the Member Swings section.
    • With the H4 or the watch, you tag the club before hitting by putting the tag next to the device. The tag is on the club butt end. After a round, you don’t really think about it too much. You just do it. I don’t know how far you are from @phillyk, but he may know an instructor in your area.
    • So the biggest issue right now is marrying the hands down with an athletic turn. I can get stuck not turning. Things get interesting from there.

    • Hi everybody!  I am new to the golf game. I have taken some lessons and got fitted for clubs a couple of months ago. I usually score between 110-120 for 18 holes.  I bought a Stealth driver last year and have been hitting consistently with it 210-230 yds on the simulator. But when I take it out on the course, every drive is a severe slice!  I played 18 holes yesterday at the club where I belong. I removed the driver from my bag and used the 5 iron to drive with. I hit straight 16 out of 18 drives, 180 - 200 yds. I used the 5i - putter for the rest of my game.  I ended the day with a 92. Question: Does it make sense for me to continue playing with irons only until I get further along in my game before I reintroduce the Driver and woods again? Or should I continue to struggle with the Driver and woods and shoot in the 100’s again? To me it’s a no brainer, but for those more advanced I am interested to get feedback.
