So, like everyone else, I love to play the titleist pro v1(x). Im getting to the point where I don't really wanna pay that kind of money, and be so worried about losing balls. If I'm playing in a match I'll use the pro 1v, but just playing around on a weekend, I would rather play with a cheaper ball. I would either choose the Callaway Big Bertha or the Titleist NXT. Which one do you guys like more?

Thanks

It's more of the HX Hot vs. the NXT...Big Bertha I believe isn't as good of a ball as the HX models (HX Tour, HX Hot, HX Pearl, etc.)

I've never been a big fan of Callaway balls (admitingly I've yet to try the HX series), but I do like the NXT-Tour's. In fact, they're my favorite cheap ball on the market.

Which is better, then NXT or the NXT Tour?

Callway Big Bertha is better compared to the DT So/Lo. Comparing an NXT to a Callway ball would be more like...HX Hot, or something.

But with the comparison you gave, I'd go with the Titleist NXT. And to whether NXT or NXT Tour, go by clubhead speed. Got a lot of it? Go for the Tour version. Otherwise, NXT is probably better.

big bertha are beginner's rocks. I would say to choose from at that ~$25 price point are NXT, Callaway HX Hot, or Nike Ignite. I would problably go with the HX Hot.

I agree that Callaway Big Bertha vs. Titleist NXT is not a fair comparison. Although that being said I would take the Titleist for each price range of ball until the Premium balls. Then I would much rather take the HX Tour or HX Tour 56 over the Pro V1 or Pro V1x.

I have played both the Callawy HX Hot and the NXT,(not tour), this season and I have changed to the Bridgestone E-5. HX hot was longer, The E-5 and NXT went about the same distance, the E-5 was the best short game ball by far, I can spin it when I need to. The 3-5 yards I lose on my driver I will trade for the higher iron shots that stop quickly. I am pretty straight off the tee, I would try the E-6 if you need max distance or the HX hot. If you hit the ball high and long I would try the NXt.

Depends on what your looking for. If you want more of a distance ball, go with the Big Bertha (or if you want to fork over a couple bucks extra, go with the HX Hot). If you want something 'similar' to the Pro-V1 you are currently using, go with the NXT Tour. I played with the NXT Tours for a 2 month period and there's nothing wrong with them at all. Like another member said, if you have the clubhead speed (which I'm sure you do, since you are using a Pro-V1) then the NXT Tour will play well for you, but some feel will be sacrificed of course.

On another note, I switched to the Callaway HX Hot. I love them, they preform well for my playing ability and learned a lot about my game as it progressed, that I needed a few more extra yards. The thing is, distance is great with the HX Hot. I personally think the feel is not bad. People have said otherwise about the feel, but all the counts is the ball landing in the cup after a putt right? Good luck! Cheers

If you're really looking for a value ball for weekend play, I picked up two dozen Big Bertha logo overruns at Golfsmith for only $14.99 a dozen. They also have HX Hot logo overruns for $19.99 a dozen. That's $5.00 off per dozen. The balls are all new and simply have a logo printed on one sign (which can be useful for identifying your ball). The bin I looked in actually had some okay logos (Lexus, St. Paulie Girl).

I play on courses with a lot of water hazards and tall rough, so a good cheap ball is important to me.

It is actaully the ball Tiger uses, although tiger's is slightly altered (harder cover). Anyway, but ya, I really like it, kinda an unheard of ball, but I get em off of

www.lostgolfballs.com . You can get a dozen of them barely used for $12. Here are reviews of it... http://www.golfreview.com/cat/balls/...3_2943crx.aspx

on the website it says tiger uses Nike One Platiunum slightly altered and with TIGER on the side. And i don't think his website is lying because they actually list that he uses the scotty cameron putter and nike ignite woods, they don't just list the most up to date nike equipment.

According to "What's in the Bag?" on the Golf Channel website, in winning the Wachovia, Woods used the Nike One Platinum ball, the Nike SasQuatch Tour 8.5° driver, the Nike SasQuatch 2 15° 3-wood and Nike Ignite T40 19° 5-wood. And, of course, the Scotty Cameron by Titleist prototype putter.

NXT is the softer of the two balls. NXT Tour is harder. It's like prov1 and prov1x.

Sorry about the mis-info on Tiger now using the Tour Accuracy. I read this article...

http://findarticles.com/p/articles/m...51/ai_65859457

One thing that I didn't check was the date: 2000. So I guess he used to use them, maybe before the Nike one came out

    • Went to a PING fitting day today. Going to be ordering a G430 Max 3w with a 75g x-stiff shaft at 5w length and a 3h. I forget what my fitter did with the shaft on that but she told me she’s going to email the club the specs of everything. The 3w combination we found pretty quickly. As for the hybrid, we tried a bunch of different head and shaft combinations for that distance with mixed results. Then she handed me the 3h and I took three swings with it and knew it was the one.
    • Yeah, this isn't sandbagging. It's outright cheating. He should be banned.
    • That’s quite a generalization. It’s clear that you don’t like water but there are plenty of us that drink it just fine. My daily intake is usually about 20oz of black coffee, 16oz of soda, 8oz of milk mixed into a protein shake, and anywhere between 30-60oz of water. It doesn’t even need to be cold and I kind of prefer it closer to room temperature than cold. I quite like the taste of tap water, with sole exception being the tap water at Magic Kingdom (it’s terrible). I can’t stand when people bring me tap water with a lemon wedge in it. I didn’t ask for lemon in my water.
