With the crazy weather around I was wondering how some of you stay cool. I am playing 45 holes this week (9 on Tuesday, 18 on Thursday and Friday) and typically we walk (for 9 holes) but this week we will be taking carts. The forecast is calling for temps from 92-100 with dew points in the mid to upper 60's.

I already have the moisture wicking clothes, Under Armour and Adidas clothes, from head to toe. Plan on drinking Gatorade and water but is their anything else to help? Suggestions would be great!

Play your rounds on tiger woods 2013 on Xbox. Otherwise I think you got it covered ;). When I play in a lot of heat I find it best to just accept that you are going to be hot and drink a lot of water.

I played 18 holes 5 times last week. In order to beat the heat I play early in the morning, drink lots of water, wear light colored golf clothing that is designed to be cooler, and I stand in the shade, a lot! The good thing about living in the desert is it is quite a bit cooler in the shade because of our low humidity. I found that is not necessarily the case in places that are humid.

Just like others said, drink A LOT of water/gatorade and find as much shade as possible (gives you an excuse for hitting into the trees too lol). Maybe buy one of those small manual misting fans?

If you can carry a cart cooler or even a decent sized insulated cup, bring some ice.  From time to time, when you have a minute or two, grab a piece of ice and rub it on your head, melt it in your cap/visor, rub some on your neck; heck I'll even pull my shirt up and rub some on my lower stomach.  Not sure if that really helps, but I think I've heard that "cooling down your core" should be the first step in treating a person with heat related symptoms.

A couple months ago, Memorial Day weekend, I was at World Woods for two days playing back to back 36 hole days.  It was BLAZING hot, hardly any clouds at all, and we were wll wrecked at the end of the day.  On the second day I started working in the ice method, and it made a world of difference.  My best round was my last, even though it was a 1pm tee time and 95 degrees.

I'm actually considering trying to find something that can be "worn" easily and not get in the way of my swing. Golfing in the Florida summer can be brutal, especially if you're a freak like me who will play all day if the weather (and the wife) don't get in the way.

I may try the ice thing! I should have no problem staying in the shade since I am there when it's cool out as well. Tee times I had no control over, they were set by others, Thursday is 10:45 and Friday 10:57. I prefer to tee off before 8:00 if possible but wasn't my call.

I carry a wet towel. Every few holes I'll just lay it out and drench with water from the course coolers or my own cooler I bring with me. I'll keep it wrapped around my neck or even under my hat when I'm not taking a stroke.

Despite courses saying no outside coolers, I have never had one question me on bringing my water jug.

If its super hot, (above 95) i tend to just skip golf that week. But if you must play try taking an ice pack and putting it in a paper towel.  Position it on the back of your neck where you feel the top of your spine.  Someone told me that this is the site of large veins and cooling it down well help cool the rest of your body down.  I've used this method before and its helped, not sure if the whole vein thing was the reason but i know the cold ice helped me feel a bit better about the heat.

Got rounds scheduled tomorrow and Thursday and we're 60 miles further south than Racine where the OP lives. I normally pack two bottles of water and replenish on the course, but this time I'll buy Gatorade from the cart gal.

Gonna pack an umbrella too. Keep the sun off my head while waiting on the tee boxes.

Last week, when it hit 101, I went out at 6:30AM and was done by 10:30 when it was already 91, Shot under the temperature too.

60 Miles South? You ever get to play any Lake Geneva courses? We're playing the Player course at Geneva National on Friday....

Check them out if you haven't

I use the wet towel method too, along with plenty of gatorade to drink.  I just got back from playing 9 holes.  Temp was 101 with heat index at 105.  I coulda played the back nine but my wife didn't want to.

Early tee time

lots of water

light weight cotton clothing

shade

biggest problem I had last weekend was my driver grip slipping/rotating on impact with the ball due to sweat.

Had a moisture wicking towel in my bag that helped a lot with that after the first time it happened...which was on

the first tee box.   Even at 9am it was already a scorcher!

I've been using neck coolers for the last couple of years and they really help. You soak them in ice water for 30 minutes and then tie around your neck. I bring a small cooler on the course filled 50/50 with ice and water. I have two neck coolers and rotate them out every 3-4 holes. Here's one place that sells them online http://www.natureshomeandgarden.com/shop/productslist.aspx?CategoryID=5
