Seriously. I park my car outside Gold's Gym today, go work out, come back, and find that someone's broken into my car. Well, not broken into, technically - the windows were left down because its 95 degrees - but still, do people have nothing better to do?

The kicker is what they stole. They didn't steal the ashtray full of change, the 20 dollar bill under the seat, or the MP3 player. But, they stole a box of Pro V1's right out of my car, that I was going to use for my club championship.

What's the joke about the black belt's car being broken into by an olympic runner?

At least the windows are intact, so it could be worse. In the future, leave the golf balls in the trunk, if you have one. Or, get a car where the remote unlocking device can be used to lower the windows.

Around here it only cools down to 95 a few days out of the year, and I always leave my windows up and stow things like MP3 players and over-priced golf balls out of sight. Welcome to one of life's little lessons: Other people want your crap.

Maybe Kentucky needs some of those little signs like they have in Florida that remind the old folks to roll up their windows and lock their doors.

#1 - When I leave my car anywhere except in the garage with the door closed, I leave it with the windows up and the doors locked. Even then I don't leave anything one the seats in plain view as a temptation for a thief. That is the best way to get ripped off.

Like they say, locks will only keep out an honest thief, but they WILL keep the the opportunistic thief from an easy score.

Oh, and by the way, it was nearly 100 here yesterday... my doors were still locked with the windows up.

man, it sucks to be you

At least they didn't get your clubs too... $50 and a lesson learned is much better than $1000+ worth of stuff getting jacked.

As an insurance agent, I'll recommend you always lock your car up! We had a customer go into a walgreens or CVS, and while he was in there visiting his girlfriend...he had $18,000 worth of stuff stolen from inside and the back of his pickup truck (that was unlocked).

Our insurance carrier denied the claim because the vehicle was unlocked! Needless to say he wasn't happy...but always lock your vehicle when you can!

Well at least they didn't take the mp3 player or rip out your stereo. I had my car broken into twice within a couple of months when I was in college. Just ended up driving without a radio for about 6 months...sucks when your dating someone an hour and ten minutes away.

Keep you stuff outa site. I have a Jeep Cherokee and always take my clubs out of the truck when I get home casue it would be easy to break into the back and take em. When they are in the back, I pull the vinal cover over them to hide them.

Unfortunately people can sink low enough that you are very fortunate the lowlife who stole your golf balls didn't steal anything else.

Maybe your car wasn't worth stealing?

Yeah, lesson learned. I won't keep the windows all the way down, anymore. It doesn't normally get that hot here in Kentucky, just really humid.

As to my car, it's not that bad. I however never have the clubs in my car unless I'm actually golfing that day - I ride as light as possible, to save whatever gas mileage I can get.

    • I honestly believe if they play longer tees by 300-400 yards, closer to or over 7,000 yards, more rough, tougher greens, women's golf will become much more gripping.  BTW, if it weren't for Scottie killing it right now, men's golf isn't exactly compelling.
    • Day 542, April 26, 2024 A lesson no-show, no-called (he had the wrong time even though the last text was confirming the time… 😛), so I used 45 minutes or so of that time to get some good work in.
    • Yeah, that. It stands out… because it's so rare. And interest in Caitlin Clark will likely result in a very small bump to the WNBA or something… and then it will go back down to very low viewership numbers. Like it's always had. A small portion, yep. It doesn't help that she lost, either. Girls often don't even want to watch women playing sports. My daughter golfs… I watch more LPGA Tour golf than she does, and it's not even close. I watch more LPGA Tour golf than PGA Tour golf, even. She watches very little of either. It's just the way it is. Yes, it's a bit of a vicious cycle, but… how do you break it? If you invest a ton of money into broadcasting an LPGA Tour event, the same coverage you'd spend on a men's event… you'll lose a ton of money. It'd take decades to build up the interest. Even with interest in the PGA Tour declining.
    • Oh yea, now I remember reading about you on TMZ!
