So i am getting tired of the public options in around North Jersey and was looking for suggestions for a club to join and was wondering if anyone knew any in the area that are offering deals to juniors. I have been to montclair and essex and was looking for some more suggestions. Thanks!

Check out golfnow.com ... I play practically all the North NJ public courses & get on for super cheap.    Bottomfeeder golf - best thing EVER !!

I have been using it for public courses but getting tired of driving all over the place and the long rounds this entailed. Was looking for some private options if there were any good deals going.

Memberships have a large range of cost.  Look at Echo Lake in Westfield, NJ.  It is $40k initiation and then $10k a year.  Then you look at a place like Knob Hill in Manalapan, and things get much cheaper since it is private/public.  Decide your budget and area, and just look up the private ones around.

Try this one, Black Oak in Long Valley: http://www.blackoakgolfclub.com/

It's new and with the economy the way it is, they are dying for members.

Give Crystal Springs Resorts a look.  They have 7 courses that are pretty nice.  The course named Crystal Spings is very nice, and pretty tough (for me).

In that case, how about semi-prvate Emerson: http://www.emersongolfcourse.com/Emerson-golf-membership.php

I know a ton of real country clubs by you, but I'm picking course that would be easyand relatively inexpensive for you to join.

I actually played at Emerson in the beginning of the year with a couple of buddies and it was in terrible shape. The aeration stuff was dumped on the sides of the green, fairways tore up etc. Not sure if it is usually in that kind of shape but we were all put off.

Well then, all that's left are the real country clubs and you have to know someone to sponsor you and they can get pretty costly. Arcola, Ridgewood and White Beaches are a few close to you.

I'm not sure how old you are but Country Clubs where I live a Junior membership is for people 18 to 30 and they still pay the initiation fee. Not many offer memberships to juniors but rather if you have a membership your kids are included. I think where I play up to 18 is free and 18 to 22 is another $150 a month after 22 no more discount. Public courses on the other hand usually offer great junior deals sometimes as low as $200 for the year for kids under 18.

I figured there wasn't a lot left but figured itwouldnt hurt to ask. I have looked at Montclair golf club and Essex county alreadY and have a buddy who is a member at white beeches, he got a pretty good deal a year or two ago. Really appreciate the feedback from everyone being new to the forum. Thanks!

I have played both Montclair GC and Essex County CC many times, both are fine venues. Natalie gulbis plays Montclair whenever she is in NJ visiting makeup artist Bobbi Brown who's husband is a member. And famous course architect Rees Jones is a member. And Essex County is one of my favorite layouts.

I thought of one other semi-private course you could look into: Knoll West in Parsippany. The only drawback is they have outings pretty much every afternoon during the week, but if you can play in the mornings, it empty.
