Whats your pre-round warm up routine?

I like to have an hour to get my swing warmed up and try to feel like im hitting solid shots - 30-40 min

and getting some putting in to get the feel for it - 20-30min...

curious how others get ready to play

Stretch, 20-25 range balls where available, then I really like to putt to test out the greens. Before I go out I always putt 5-6fters into the cup to watch the ball drop, gives me good vibes. If I'm playing a new course I check out the scorecard to see how it's laid out. Right before I go out I grab some water and then visualize my first tee shot sailing down the fairway. I believe strongly in the power of positive thinking.:-)

One shot at a time.

I wish I had a range on my home course. I spend about 10 minutes on the practice green putting, then chip pitch for a few mintues...then on the first tee...I'll swing driver easy, then harder a few times...switch to 7i and then back to driver.

My routine for my home course is different since when I play I hang out there all day almost everyday hitting balls, chipping, putting, but for other courses it's different.  Get there 70 minutes early, stretch, hit 40 balls (about that), putt and then visualize my game.

At home

My normal 15 minute Yoga routine

Solid breakfast. Usually oatmeal, banana, raisins.

A few minutes with my SKLZ Gold Flex I lose the feel for a club in my hands if I use it right before the range, Its got a good weight to it. That's while I swing it before I take off for the course, But it certainly gives a good upper body stretch and helps find the back backswing that I look for.

On the drive

Rehearse my hole-by-hole gameplan

At the course

Putting. A full circle of short putts around a hole with some break.

Putting. Start getting some 6-10 footers to drop

Putting. A few longer putts

Chipping: 5 minutes or so

Range: Some SW pitch shots - a few 8irons - a lot of 6 or 5irons - two or three hybrids - two or three 3woods - about 5 drivers

Range: Whatever the tee shot is on the first hole

I normally do some short putts and some lag putts, followed up by a 4-part dynamic stretching routine (purposeful motion to get the muscles warmed up).

Then I hit a few 8i chips and short wedges.

After that, I'll go 8i, 6i, 4i, a few drives, and a fairway wood or hybrid. I have an arthritic right hip, so I want to hit about 20 or so full shots to get fully loosened up.

Then, if there's any extra time, I'll practice one-ball up-and-downs until time for tee box.

------------------------------

If I haven't touched a club in a few days, I'll usually hit the course the evening before and do some short game, plus try the long clubs (driver, FWs and hybrids).

Focus, connect and follow through!

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

Show up like an hour early. Basically I just goof around and work my way from wedges to 3 iron. With my swing speed I refuse to hit my wood or driver with those POS one piece range balls. It's like throwing money out the window. Last 10-15 mins I'll get serious with chipping and putting.

So this is what I have been missing... usually show up at the course when the price drops at 3pm. Chat with the pro for a few, find out who is on the course, then go to a tee I won't have to wait on and go. Usually its either 1, 6, or 10...

I did go out and play a nicer course last week and I hit a small bag of balls... which didn't do anything but tell me it was going to be a long day... pushes and hooks... glad to say I got that straightened out... I think. The practice green was right behind the first tee, so checked in with the starter and putted for 10 or so and hit the first tee.

I really should warm up but I can't justify buying range balls when they cost more then my greens fees. I think that any course that has a range should include about 15 range balls with your green fee. just enough to get loose, but few enough to make you focus and make them count.

I tend to take breaks during the day and swing a club, hit wedge shots... I live on 5 acres and can hit full sand wedge shots... and I work in my garage making furniture and instruments, so I can walk out the door and take a 15 min wedge break while glue dries or to let my eyes uncross from doing detail work... I don't get paid very well but my boss is a hell of a guy. :p

Park car near range because practice stuff is in my car. Set up a hitting station with aids that help with ball position and alignment. Hit a 6-iron with a formed grip to solidify my grip. Start out with short swings and over a few balls work toward full swings. Move to a Tour Striker and try and hit the ball in the air. Some days this happens fast. Some days this takes a long time. But I know I'll play better if I get the TS working. The switch to wedge, 8-iron- 6-iron. Put station away and go get regular bag. Hit 4-hybrid, 3-wood, driver. End with club I plan to use on first and second tee. Go to putting green and chip two balls around from good and bad lies. Putt one ball to a 20-30 foot target to get speed. Then work to make a few 3-10 foot putts working on feeling distance and routine. End with two putts going in from about three feet.

50 minutes.

Me too..... I haven't hit a bucket of balls since 1995. LOL..........if I'm playing my home course, I don't even practice putt because the greens are always consistent.  If it's an early tee time, I prefer 10 minutes to stretch, but a few practice swings will do if necessary.

Park,Pay, maybe putt, and Play. Any time I've tried to hit the range before a round, I've hit a bunch of bad shots, and ended up taking 2-3 holes to shake off the negativity of the bad range session. I'm best off just hitting the first tee after 5 minutes of chipping/putting.

If there's no range at the course, I'll usually spend about 30 minutes around the putting green. I start off with some bump and run shots, then some wedge shots, and finally some putting.

I've had unlimited free range privy since the mid-1990s.......I also have unlimited golf privileges, so the choice is a no-brainer for me....I'd rather just play!!!

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
