What is the best way to move my swing path more to the right?  Especially with the Driver.  If I swing within in myself, a nice controlled swing, I can hit the ball relatively straight.  Even with a little push draw.  The problem is, I am not getting much distance this way.  Maybe 200 to 210.  If I try to swing harder, my path goes more left, and ball goes more right.  The harder I swing, the more to the left my path goes.

It would certainly be nice to be able to take a nice rip at it with the Driver and not have to worry about the ball going right.

Any help is appreciated.

Swinging hard is not always the answer.  Are you maintaining lag?  When your hands are near your hip on the downswing is the shaft parallel to the ground?  You want to swing fast not hard.

Weight forward, Steady Head, flat left wrist at impact

If you flip, you will create and over the top move. Its a subtle move that causes even good swings to have a slight outside to in swing path. Getting the weight forward, will shift the swing arc forward, bringing a more inside to out swing path naturally. A flat left wrist will really bring that path. To really hit home, you can then start to learn how to push that swing path more right. Sometimes this might feel like a loop, sometimes it might feel like your driving your your left hand around the shaft, away from your body. Or, you might feel something in the finish that gets you to were you want. Its tough to say, you can set yourself up for success, but you got to figure out how to get there. Video camera and a good instructor helps out ;)

It sounds to me, and my VERY untrained eye, like you are asking the wrong question.  When you swing within yourself, you hit it straight with a little push draw.  This tells me that your path is just fine.  And I can't imagine condoning NOT swinging within yourself, so it seems like the question should be more along the lines of "How do I generate more power with a controlled swing?"

And, to that, I don't know the answer.

Thanks for the replies.

There have been time when certain "feels" have helped.  Usually only a short fix though.  I was hoping somebody had more of a "scientific" answer.  Something like, "If you do _______________, it will shift the path right, making it impossible to swing outside in."

I guess Saevel did kind of answer like that.

I have taken some video of my swing.  I definitely move my head forward (toward the target) and flip with the Driver.  I do flip some with the shorter clubs, but it is much worse with the Driver.

Also, a swing thought like "swing to right field" does not work for me.  I know that I need to swing to the right, just can't seem to do it at  high speeds while hitting a ball.

Then swing slow, like snails pace, force the movement right, exaggerate it.

I think the harder you swing, the more likely you are to come over the top.

The dreaded OTT move.

If you remember to begin the downswing with the lower body - specifically by beginning the transition with a move to the front foot and the hips moving forward and then turning, and the arms coming in to supply power at the end - you will swing more in to out... as I am learning, it's all about sequencing.

I'm still not sure if it applies to you since you admitted that a controlled swing already results in a push draw, but check this video out ...

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
