I always see people claim big numbers and like I said in the other thread I always bring my Skydaddy with me and show them how off they really are..

I average about 200 or so because I don't always swing 100%, usually around 50-70% because I am more comfortable with that.

My pro shop has one of those 100k machines where they measure everything about your swing.. My swing speed, swinging with all my might is about 108-110mph.
And if I hit it right it will go about 270yds

Whats funny and something I didn't know about really, is how important it is to hit the ball with precise accuracy. The pro at my proshop swings about 105mph and it goes 300yrds almost every time..

here I am with a slower mph and 30-40 yards less.

Yup, it's called efficiency. Just like everything on the planet golf is not immune to efficiency. There are many ways to be more efficient in launch conditions, clubface angle, ball type etc.

Swing = Stacked and On Plane when possible.

My swing speed is about 100mph, and my consistant drives are 275. I gained about 15 yards this season, and I am quite happy with it.

When I try to murder the ball, I top out at about 110. For some reason that's bad on my right wrist, so I usually swing at about 90 percent. That's about 105 for me. Recently I've been getting a lot of roll because the place is so dry, leading to a lot of those 300+ drives. If the place was actually watered properly I probably would not get more than 275 (about 250 carry). I should slow down (if I miss, I miss in the wrong area code), but, eh, I prefer murdering the ball at times.

MY handicap is about 20, and who cares.. I never said I average that. I average about 200 yard drives

Around 110mph (give or take) depending if the advil has kicked in yet or not. The fastest I've been timed is 112, but 108 - 110 was pretty consistent. I picked up a sky caddy this yeat and I usual get around 270. My longest drive this year has been 302, my shortest 236. I did measure one at 332 but that had 2 bounces off the road then back into play so I wont count it

Normally in the 107-112 range last I was measured, which was earlier this year. Fastest timed was 118.

I typically struggle with launch angle and ideal contact so I don't hit the ball nearly as far as I should. I've been keeping it relatively straightly so I can't really complain, but I've been hitting the ball slightly off the heel of my driver, costs me a lot of distance. Hit it usually around 250-260. Longest I had last time out was 283, finally hit the ball near the sweet spot for once.

There is no doubt that efficiency and proper mechanics will outperform speed and strength.

Wow, are you guys for real? I thought avarage was atleast over 130.

When I tested my swing speed a couple of weeks ago the guy told me I had an enormous swing speed. But I thought he was just kidding or exaggerating, because his was about 145 or something. And mine was 157-167. It went about 270 yards. But he told me I hit down on the ball too much and get way too much spin on the ball to be able to hit long drives. If I start hitting the ball on the way up, he told me, I was going to get some real long distances.

In my last driver fitting, my swing speed was averaging 105 mph with a ball speed in the low 150’s. Spin rates varied as we were going through different club heads & shafts. I hit most of my balls in the high 260’s, good number of them into the 280 range, and maybe 3 bombs out towards 300.

270 yards and handicap 36? The ball must go 270 yards to the right into the other fairway

Excuse me? Who exactly do you think are you to call someone out on their handicap when you don’t have enough guts to post your own? And why would you insult someone based on handicap anyway? Last I checked, Golf was a game that everyone can enjoy regardless of ability level. What a childish and immature comment…

First of all, everytime I went to Golf Galaxy and manned up on their simulator, my game took a giant skydive for about a week. I think I know better now.To add to that, the simulator is not exactly accurate and can be customized. The swingspeed and ballspeed numbers are not right at all. If you need to know your real swingspeed, I think you should step on their launch monitor (the real stuff that they take you to if you want a ball fitting..) and not that graphic simulator with the waterfall setting.
The other thing is, it is only a nice thing to know...perfect contact is way way way more important than swing speed.

I think you're confusing ball speed with swing speed. Almost nobody in the world swings a standard driver 150 MPH. 150 MPH would result in the ball carrying 375 yards or so and 167 would send the ball well over 410 yards.

If I'm right about ball speed, then, divide those numbers by 1.5 and you'll have your swing speed: about 103 MPH or so.

Currently not striking the ball correctly as i have a low ball flight, once i get that sorted im hoping i can get that 250-270 more to 265-275

Hmm... that makes sense. I was doing this with my normal swing at about 80% of my power. And I certainly don't hit 410 yards.

I was thinking this guy meant in kilometers since he's in Sweden. I think Sweden uses km/h instead of mph, no?

    • 47+49 for a 96. Just lost it today. Two way miss off the tee. Could not hit a decent iron. Three putted like at least 8 holes. Not good when the short game is the best part of the day 😭😭
    • Phillyk is very close by. Ok, I understand how the watch and tags are meant to be used, but I was just curious how it actually works. I can't really think of any other way than what I mentioned above. No worries. If it works it works. I'll probably pick one up. My co-worker mentioned a free app called 18 Birdies which offers similar services. However I personally do not like keeping my phone in my pocket while golfing, nor do I want to be clicking around on the phone while out on the course. I toss my phone in my bag and leave it there until I am done golfing. Tapping a club head to a watch seems wat more convenient.
    • Yes, but not always the case. IMHO, green speeds are a huge variable and can effect score variation from week to week or month to month significantly. Our own course that is running at about 8-9 depending on the week/day, can run up to 12 (no kidding) in peak months around certain event, and most like me score 3-4 shots higher on an average, missing a lot of 3-4 footers. There are any PCC adjustments that I am aware of. Have you every played their course? I am betting $20 you will find some answers if you haven't already.

    • I would recommend spending some time at the range and film your swing. You can post it in the Member Swings thread. At the range, you can figure out how to control the driver a bit more. We can offer some pointers once you post in the Member Swings section.
