I hope anyone has a tip out there. A tip for a road trip.

Not to pour my soul out. I love the game of golf. I really would like to play some USA courses. A dream. I watch the tournaments, see the courses. And I get the feeling: I want to play in the USA.

But where do I go? So many courses, maybe hidden gem's. Tips? Where to go? The choices are absolutely countless. Florida might be the easiest pick. Relatively close to Holland by plane. But where in Florida. Oher suggestions? Souht Carolina might be even better, but a bit harder to reach. Harbour Town, magnificent. But I do not have the deepest pockets. Tips? Suggestions? I Need all the help there is!

My wife won't come with me. She doesn't play golf and has no desire to stay in a hotel or spa while I am playing. To travel alone for a week is ok, but some company to play would be nice. I have no idea if I can hook up with some people who are willing to play. I would like to see teacher from the S&T; or 5sk family if I am in the USA.

Can/will someone tell me a bit more about golf life of Joe Avarage in de USA? I come to a golf club, buy a green fee and ask if there would be a nice guy of women to play a round with me? Is that considered strange?

But where should I go or who do I see? I really do not have a clue where to start looking.

I have set my mind a bit to go to the USA. For 7-8 days. Play on (what might be considered ) the avarage courses and one or maybe 2 better or maybe top courses. I looked at Kiawah Island, but the prices where shocking. But the list seems endless. If I look in the GD top 100 list, I feel that all the courses are worth going to. If the choice is to much, there is a risk of no choice at all.

I hope someone on this forum might have some tips/links etc.

Very, very appriate it!! Thanks

https://www.rtjgolf.com/trail/ Pretty awesome golf vacation option, although nothing you'd have seen on TV, more than likely.

Maybe pricey, but a really really memorable, once in a lifetime trip would be to Monterey CA. Play Pebble Beach, Spyglass, Spanish Bay (all expensive), the 2 Fort Ord Courses, Del Monte muni, maybe play Pasatiempo on the drive down from San Francisco. Get a caddie for Pebble and maybe Spyglass, although you used to be able to walk Spyglass and carry your bag.

Just consider it. Maybe some locals on here from around there can give you more info, I haven't been there for 20 years or so. But for Americans (at least west coasters), I'd say it is a pilgrimage on the order of going to St. Andrews/Carnoustie or Turnberry/Prestwick. You gotta do it before you kick the bucket :-)

Have fun!

Steve

Fly over to Charlotte NC, stay here for a few day. Get over to Myrtle Beach and Hilton Heads for the rest of your trip.

I have to second the Robert Trent Jones Trail in Alabama.  Very affordable, excellent golf, and as a bonus, excellent barbecue joints.

You can't go wrong with Myrtle Beach. Over 100 courses in the area. Golf is included in the price of the hotel. Real reasonable. Plus you have the beach right there. I haven't done the RTJ trail. I have friends who have that really love it.

Play golf or air tix across USA?  Carry ur own clubs=$$$$ on every airline.  Even car rental adds up over a week.  Unless ur middle name is Pound Sterling, suggest take advice to stay near Carlolina East Coast and focus on good golf there.  And possibly summer rates are cheaper as weather not so nice in August along East Coast.

Prices shocking?  Welcome to USA.
