Hi fairly new to the game and while i am making progress i feel I am a long way from hitting it well. My problem is I hit the ball VERY high. Almost a ballon shape. I went to the range with only a 9 iron and was hitting it very high and to the right. It was so high it went over the net twice. My 9irons were averaging 100 to 120. This is poor foe distance but its clear most most on this balloning shots. What could the cause be? Thanks

How high is too high? Are you right handed or left handed? What is the flex of the 9i? What net are you hitting over that you are afraid of hitting over? What does ballooning mean to you?

I hit my 9i with a pretty high draw (25-30 yards high), but the shots go to the right distance for me. . .speaking of which there is no actual "right" distance. Many people hit a 120 yard 9i and shoot reasonably low scores.

Good chance you're lining the shaft up with the lead arm well before impact. Also known as flipping or casting (left pic), this dynamically adds loft at impact. Want it to look like the right pic, shaft and lead forearm inline (Key #3).

Some good threads to check out. I'd probably focus on Keys #1 or #2 for now, Key #3 tends to come as a result of working on those pieces.
