Well, I personally have a pretty strong grip, so I usually hit a draw. That causes the club to shut slightly at impact causing a right to left ball flight. Any fade (except with the 3 wood) is entirely unintentional and I am probably going to be in trouble. Fades for me happen when I weaken my grip too much (when I overcompensate after a snap hook).

Most of my drives are a slight fade but other than that, i hit reasonably straight. Apart from my 3-Hybrid..That could go anywhere...

My drives are not intentional however, i think it is due to my club path at impact. Im trying to straighten it out a bit so i dont have the out to in swing...

I've always hit a draw. Now I'm switching to a fade. for both I set up with a square face to my planned starting line. For a fade, I just make sure my left wrist is arched at impact. For a draw, I make sure my left wrist is flat at impact.

For a Fade with the driver:

-tee up low, with ball in middle of stance
-open left toe a bit
-turn hips a bit fast on downswing, to "block" shot to right.

this is pretty useful for a dogleg right, etc.

AND its fun to swing fast on purpose!

Caution!!! DO NOT TRY THIS WITH A STRONG GRIP!

Not to seem rude, but at a 30 handicap you should probably work on hitting the ball straight first before learning how to manipulate the ball flight.

but for a draw most players close their stance slightly (left foot ahead a little bit) and close the clubface a little bit or use a stronger grip.

I set up so that the club face lines up square with where I want the ball to land, and line up my feet, hips shoulders etc with where I want the ball to start out. Then swing alog the line of my feet.

Doesn't work all the time for me (60-70%) but I know that this is a widley accepted method for working the ball.

The ball goes further left than it goes forward. What's wrong with

that ....?

Grip position
12 o'clock neutral grip, for me straight with a slight draw
slightly right or 1 o'clock draw
Back Swing
taking the club back on the line outside helps create a fade and talking the club inside helps with a draw
Foot position
feet square straight
feet open fade
feet closed draw
Club Face
only changing the club face to where you want the ball to end up with your golf swing

What I tend to do is play the slight draw and when I need to fade the ball I take the club slightly outside. I found if I need to draw the ball more I simply closed the face however if I open the club face my ball tends to go right to start off and so I take my club on an outside path for a fade.

grip position

I was glad someone indicated there are a lot of ways to do it. My normal is a slight draw, so I just close my stance a bit to increase it. But for a fade I make several changes depending on how much I want to fade it. Slight fade I manipulate my right arm and elbow, (hard to explain) but basically I don't allow my arms to rotate as much, I ,To fade it more I open my stance a bit, and if I really want to slice I open the clubface a little also. Yes I am a feel player. Some people do very well just trying to delay the toe crossing over etc.

I was thinking to open the same thread hehehe. I was reading some posts and I don't get the idea very well. And I have a doubt...

I have this typical shot with the face open. I use a neutral grip, so, sometimes at impact the club face is slighlty open. But the ball trajectory is not a Slice. So I think that maybe I can use this type of shot to make it draw. The only thing is... how?

I found that when I hold the club too tightly I fade or slice.

So if I want to fade it, I just remember to hold back on releasing. For those shots I aim left, but only so left that if I hit it straight I won't be in trouble.

I haven't learned to let loose enough to hit the draw yet without hooking it.

Draw:
I CLOSE my stance by moving my left foot slightly in Toward the target line. I keep my swing and club alignment the same, and I get a nice little draw.

Fade:
I OPEN my stance by moving my left foot slightly AWAY from the target line. I keep my swing and club alignement the same and I get a nice little fade.
