During your round of golf do you make swing adjustments? In my swing, I am always fighting a draw or sometimes a hook and will need to make a swing adjustment during my round. How many of you do the same?

i think you almost have to make adjustments to your swing during your round. but the key is to know what's causing your ball to do what it is doing or not doing, or what you are doing or not doing to make your ball do what it is doing and not doing. and, you need to know what you can do to fix whatever is going on with your swing and not just grasp at straws. it is probably not a good idea to employ untested, wholesale, swing changes mid-round.

It is not a good thing when it happens - but it happens

If I make a practice swing and can actually feel that I am doing something that is both different and correct I'll change, but I normally ignore someone who tells me "hey, you did X" because it is normally "you looked up" when in fact I have been releasing my head before impact (ala Annika) for years now and it is easier to ignore tham than to argue with them about how it is actually OK. But with the swing, I'm trying (sometimes more successfully than others) to do the same thing for the entire round.

i have the same problem and usually just make small setup changes. i dont like to do anything that actually feels different than my normal swing, but it is golf and sometimes we go out and feel as though we've never swung before.

Best you hit a couple of balls in the range to loosen you up . When you play the course your mind and body will be in tune . Hooks are normaly a pull of the club to the left immediately after impact . Just do the normal follow through towards the target with a relaxed swing .

I played today and made a grip adjustments to counter a strong draw, my right hand was too far right of center.

I usually have to make some adjustments to get to my regular swing. Sometimes I can feel something in my practice swings and sometimes I can diagnose what I am doing wrong from the ball flight.

For example I can usually feel if I am coming outside in on my practice swing. I make an adjustment and the result is, I almost never slice the ball.

An example of ball flight is that sometimes I tend to flip my wrists. If I see my ball starting to hook instead of draw I known I have to concentrate more on extending my followthrough down the target line instead of flipping my wrists.

Right now I am working on making better ball contact and more accurate shots. I work on this stuff at the range and once I'v figured some things out I will incorporate those things into my regular swing.

I played today and made an adjustment on my driver set up.

I was hitting the ball on the toe of my driver by the mark of the white tee so I moved my driver set up with the ball lined up closer to the heel of the driver and started hitting the ball on the center of the driver club face and out driving my buddy.

I have several swings that I can switch too during a round, I almost always need to make some small adjustment. Since I am fighting a draw or hook, I compensate by taking the club slightly outside on my back swing or keep my club face square on the follow through. I am always need to check my grip to make sure its not too strong.

I've got the same problem - I can't avoid the left side of a course if my mother, my car, and my early retirement fund were all on the line. I try to compensate by using an abnormally weak grip - if the usual left hand grip was 12'o clock, I'd have it turned over to 7 or 8'o clock. And then I'd hit a massive cut into the trees on the other side of the fairway.

I am a fader, or slicer in worser case of scenario; yes fighting that throughout the round if things not going right on that particular day.

But, when things are working out, I seem to forget about the swing; just go behind the ball, look at target, get over the ball and swing away.

    • Day 113: 4/18/24 Stack training progress check after finishing my 6th program, and 4th Full Speed Spectrum Training session, which is recommended for my next program.     Gained 1 mph with driver, 195 g, 95g. Maintained with 280 g , and gained 2 with 145 g. Lost 1 mph on both lead and trail arm. Felt like I lost distance in my last round…
    • Please forgive the sweaty shirt.  Just got off the treadmill and decided to do my Evolvr drill.
    • I'd agree that 4w seems like the right play here. I'm not a course designer or anything but that hole looks like it could be so much more fun if everyone played from those front 2 tee boxes that are right outside your shot cone and they cut down most of the trees down that left side of the fairway. That would give risk reward to long hitters who want to try and push it up to that left fairway, allow more players to reach that second fairway, and still allowing it to be perfectly playable for someone who only hits driver like 150yds off the tee.   Yeah it looks like 4iron aimed at that inside edge of the right bunker is the play there, especially if you don't expect a 20mph tailwind again. If it is down wind again, 5iron would be just fine too, it'd still get you inside 150yds for your approach.  Keep in mind tee marker locations too, you measured that one from the back so if those tee markers are moved all the way towards the front of that box then 5 iron is probably best just to be sure that right bunker is never in play.
    • Day 1: worked on my drill for my arms.
    • Hit my tee shot just into the penalty area and barely found it. Swung hard just in case I hit it. It was slightly downhill with a heavy tailwind. I don't actually hit my 9i 170 yards.
