My wife and I have an agreement: she can spend money on stamping and scrapbooking, I can spend money on golf equipment and greens fees. She has bought a crap-load of stuff. I have nearly two sets of clubs (one good, one cheap). Considering several of my purchases are large ticket items (i.e. $300 driver, $750 irons), its a pretty good deal.

I love my wife.

In my C-130 bag:

Driver: G10 10.5*

Irons: G10 steel AWT shafts, silver dot, +1" (3-SW)Wedge: cg12 58*Putters: Squareback 2, California Coronado Low score (18 holes): 90Low score (9 holes): 42

I couldn't really answer the poll, since my answer could be "all of the above" with the exception on #2. My wife would NEVER attempt to buy my golf equipment. If it's a birthday or something she'll either A) go get a gift certificate from Golf Galaxy or B) just say "I know you want a new driver so go buy it and happy birthday". Of course me being the golf freak I am, I usually don't "wait" and go buy it anyway. Not really applicable for Christmas, since for the last two years our Christmas present to each other (that's what we call it anyway) is going to Naples over the holidays. That's how we rationalize it anyway.

WHAT'S IN MY BAG

Driver: TaylorMade RBZ 9.5 degree; 3-Wood: TaylorMade RBZ 15 degree; Hybrids: TaylorMade RBZ 19 degree; Irons: Titleist AP1; Wedges: Titleist Vokey Spin Milled 54/60; Putter: Scotty Cameron Studio Select Fastback; Ball: Callaway Hex Chrome+  Grips:  PURE Pro

My wife's the same; she's driving a loaded 2007 Caddy and there's also a new Corvette in "her" garage and she has a big, tall chest for her jewelry that a burgular would never think was a jewelry chest.

Golf is a very cheap hobby in my opinion unless you have a full time pilot to fly you in your private jet around the world playing in exotic places. When I lived in Arizona I was spending about $7,000 annually on equipment and greens fees, but I was playing great, private courses frequently. I guess I have spent about $12,000 this year, but $6,100 of that was for a new cart. Fishing can be really big $. My son-in-law drops about $350,000.00+ annually on fishing. He bought a new 48' Cabo convertible with the tall pipe fitter Tuna tower that will do 50 mph last year for $1.6 million; diesel fuel for a weekend is about $6,000.00 and then there's a full-time captain and full-time mate, not to mention what a marina slip is for a 48' yacht annually. Calcutta bets on weekend billfish tournments start at $10,000.00 and there's a tournament every week. He flys down to the Gulf in his private jet to fish (yes, he has a 3,000# penthouse condo on the beach too) and he says he is considered small potatoes by the guys with real "F*** You" money. Even bass fishing can run into big bucks (been there, done that). Those boats the pros fish from on TV run about $65,000.00 and its hard to go anywhere and fish for less than $500.00 a day, excluding the boat depreciation. I play golf for $1 a hole bet and drinks at my club.

I couldn't answer this poll with one of the options. My wife would never buy me anything for golf. Well outside of maybe some tee's or a towl or something like that. She wouldn't know where to start with clubs or anything like that. Hopefully she would be able to pick up a club for a right hander so atleast she would get that part right. I'm currently working on getting her to "buy" my a new set of clubs for Christmas. I think they will be a late gift because in Ohio it gets a little more difficult to play in the winter. They are currently calling for 2-4" of snow this weekend.

I wonder what the chances of me talking her into a new set of clubs plus moving south to where it's warmer are?

In my Pro-Walker stand bag:

Driver: Founders Club "The Judge" Graphite shaft (benched for bad play)
3-wood: 15* steel shaft
5 & 7-wood: Velocitized BBT Oversized Graphite Shaft Medium Flex 21* & 25*3-iron: Wilson Sam Snead Blue Ridge (benched for bad play)4-SW: Maker's Pride irons steel shaftsP...

My wife is the same way, the most she will buy me is a towel or something. She is very cool with me buying stuff because she knows it will be used heavily for a long time. I buy stuff without he knownig but nothing major, single clubs, shoes or something. I am looking at a new set and she told me to go buy them.

I think I freaked her out when I asked her to get me tees and specified the color and size LOL.

That's very possible. In the past I've always just bought what I wanted for Christmas. That way I got what I wanted. I think this year my sister in law is getting me a "Brutus" head cover.

    • Day 22: Hit balls with 7-iron using mevo+ to track dispersion. Was out for a long time after work; 86 balls but the first 50+ were 50% swings focusing on top of backswing feel and then just hitting the ball as a psychic reward. Finished with 20 balls close to full speed. Pretty happy with dispersion and also no horrendous misses. I’m chunking my priority piece out into two separate feels, first and more important is the position/balance at top of backswing which is what I was working on. Once I have that engrained I’ll move to transition part.
    • FWIW I never really had issues with the previous generation of Snells. But… I'm not sure I played them a ton, either.
    • I know Dean Snell designed the original Pro V along with a couple of other brands tour balls.  How exactly does the Snell ball have problems.  Did he change something in the design or is a manufacturing error since he cannot afford the unlimited R&D budgets of the big manufacturers to iron out flaws
    • I've played the Tour in both white and yellow.  They play well and seem to hold up pretty good even when running into trees or cart paths.  Right now, I've been trying them against the Bridgestone Tour B RX ball and I really like both.  The Snell 3.0 looks to be a great update to the issues Snell was running into with the previous generation.
