Ummm, it's been

two hours . As the admin on several other forums it's a good rule of thumb to wait 24 hours before even thinking about bumping your thread. In fact, even longer is a good idea since this place doesn't get five thousand posts a day, and topics actually stick around for a while on the front page. Take a chill pill, man.

Agreed. Perhaps s/he is on drugs that affect time?

I guess even a broken watch is right twice a day. Oh well, I tried, I guess. The little guy is amusing at times, though, I have to admit...

The reason is I had to ponder it a while. I personally think the testing is going to be complex.

For example; many, if not most of the tour players have personal trainers that are involved in their training program and I would bet, also diet... I would suspect that the trainers are also paid well with other incentives as well(ie their player winning)... Therefore, the trainer may be under pressure to get the golfer to perform well and give them a drug offending substance in a energy drink or whatever.... The pro golfer has no clue of this.... Should he/she(the golfer) be punished? What about the legitimate medical use of certain steroids? How about Ibuprofen? Nicotine(sorry Angel Cabrera)? Where will it end?

You give a good point. The Tour will have to have all parties involved investigated before any action towards the player taken. Going to be a tough one, isn't it?

I said none. I don't believe there is 0 use. I do believe if you know what you are doing the levels and substances that golfers would use are easily masked or are not detected. HGH and low levels of testorone via cream etc would give some advantage but not be outside of range. Remember golfers don't have to be the strongest, fastest or jump the highest. They just need enough to recover little more quickly and modestly improve strength and flexibility. Enough for an extra 10-15 yards without significant bulk. If one of them is is dumb enough to go for more than that they will be caught. Also if street drugs that aren't really performance enhancing, like pot, are being tested then someone likely will fail.

The only guy I'm worried about is Will McKenzie if they have Canabis on the banned list.

I dont think that any golfers will be busted for steroids or HGH to enhance performance, maybe to get back from an injury but not for performance enhancement. I do think however that many will get busted for anphetemines and concerntraiton enhancing drugs. I have ADHD and i take aderall for it everyday, i can see a huge diference in my golf game from when im off it and when i take it. Im usually better at putting and planning out the holes when it take them.

What would be the point of taking steroids? I am more scared of the guy who hits a 5 iron 150 yards that can hit a draw, fade, cut, and can stop it on a dime then I am a person who hits it 400 yards

I didn't think about the ADHD angle. I am going to steal some of my sons concerta before my next round

. I should not make fun of ADHD. I am actually textbook ADHD, I was never diagnosed because for my generation, it was only kids that got in trouble that were put on Ritalin. It probably would have helped me a ton because I had/have a terrible time concentrating. The one thing about most ADHD meds is that they are actually stimulants and will not help someone that does not have ADHD focus. In fact it could do quite the opposite. There are a lot of people that use drugs like Aderall to get high.

That's what I thought. Does the test detect performance anti-enhancing (not sure if that is a word)? I don't think anyone will be busted for roids but maybe a little weed or some blow?

I voted 1 player. Some poor bugger is gonna forget about his Beta blockers for his heart condition, and is gonna get busted. After that, everyone will be more careful........

Are they really gonna test for weed?!?!!? Dude.....

There's an article in Golf Digest that made the best point.

As long as Tiger tests negative for performance enhancing drugs, what does it matter if everyone else is positive?

    • I would never do the extended warranty on the $50 slow cooker.  I also routinely reject the extended service plans on those toys we buy for the grand-kids.  I do consider them on higher cost items and will be more likely to get one if the product has a lot of "Electronic Tech" that is often the problem longer-term.  I also consider my intended length of ownership & usage.  If my thought is it would get replaced in 2-3 years then why bother but if I hope to use it for 10 years then more likely to get the extension. I did buy out a lease about a year ago.  Just prior to the lease end date the tablet locked up and would not function.  I got it repaired under the initial warranty and would not have bought it out if they had not been able to fix it since IMO once electronic issues start in a car they can be hard to track down & fix.  They did fix it but when I bought out the lease I paid up for the extended warranty the would cover electronic failures because my intent is to keep that car for another 8-10 years and I just do not trust the electronics to last.  Last week the touch screen went black and was unresponsive.  It reset on the 2nd time I restarted the car but that is exactly how the last malfunction started.  I fully expect to have a claim on that on repair under the extended warranty.  I do not recall the exact cost to fix last time since I did not pay it but I think it was @ $700-$800 and I suspect that will be higher next time.
    • Have you looked at Model Local Rule F-9 Relief from Tree Roots in or Close to Fairway?  You could extend this to cover exposed rocks.  The rule is recommended to be used only for areas relatively near the fairway, a player who hits a shot 20 yards in the woods doesn't really deserve relief.   Players can always take Unplayable Ball relief, they're not required to play it from a rock or a root.  Of course, they hate to take the penalty stroke too.
    • I agree with @klineka, you're clearly doing something right.  Its always going to be a bit of a guessing game if you don't have any scoring history.  On the other hand, understanding that it takes only 54 holes to establish an actual handicap, and they have about 6 weeks in which to play and post enough scores, I don't think its at all unreasonable to require them to have an official handicap before they become eligible for prizes.  I don't know how you structure the fees for the series of competitions, but if its possible they'll play with the group without being eligible for prizes, you could consider a way to let them do that without contributing to the prize pool.
    • I run tournaments and want to put in a local rule that allows relief from tree roots and rocks that are not loose impediments. We have some really terrible lies in some of our courses in my area and nobody is getting paid enough to break clubs. Let me know if you think the verbage for this rule makes sense. Local Rule Roots and Rocks You may move your ball from a tree root or buried rock one club length for free relief no closer to the hole. However you may not use this rule to get relief from a tree, bush, boulder, or other foliage hindering your swing. Your only option here is to play it as it lies or take an unplayable for a one stroke penalty.
    • Makes sense.  Like I said, I wouldn't have been upset at their original offer either, and based on the fine print it seems like they've held up their end of the deal.
