I've been Playing Golf for: 6 years - Weekend Warrior, now playing 3-5 times a week
My current handicap index or average score is: 85-95 type of scores
My typical ball flight is: Low Fade
The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Chunky contact. I have a tendency to stiffen up my arms for more power and shift out of my backswing too early causing me to ground the club too early. 15-20 yards loss of length is the result.

Setup looks fine,  but not keeping COG over the arch of your feet or not toward your heels,  keep that power and rotation low and moving off the ball a little to give you space.   Hopefully those chunks become nice tidy clips.

I'd minimize the hip sway a bit (first image below) and then work on not being so static/flat-footed in the downswing and at impact.01.jpg02.jpg

Wow, thank you!

This helps. I didn't even realize I was still swaying. As a former soccer player, not using my feet enough surprises me a bit! Good to know what I can focus on next.

If you have a full length mirror somewhere, you can practice this to work on it. I also recommend the app, Mirror Vision and use it with my iPad. It really helps to be able to see it to work on eliminating issues.

Do you hit a lot of shots off the heel or sh--ks especially when you are first getting loose?

Anyone have any drills to increase swing speed? Or tips for hitting higher trajectory? I’m a natural low, fader.

Here is a down the line 7 iron 165 yards (maybe closer to 155)

Re Hip sway are you referencing the top two photos or the bottom two. I thought you guys were in favor of sliding the hips?

During the downswing. Not during the backswing.

Never off the heel. Occasionally a bad toe. Mostly my shots move right because I can’t seem to square the face. I’ll tend to leave it open at impact. Drives especially...

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
