YouTube and any online instruction can be a good resource but you have to know what you want and need.

You tube has both good, and bad swing instruction available. .

Like any kind of swing instruction, it's the student golfer's responsibility to learn enough about the game of golf, to be able to separate between the good, and bad aspects of the instruction being given to them.

Sometimes the student has to be savy enough to throw out the bad, while retaining the good aspects of the same instructor's video(s).

Many are unaware of this… but PGA Tour players are like regular golfers. They'll troll YouTube looking at videos. I've gotten emails from them about some of my videos, and if you talk with them, they'll ask you about videos on YouTube, or talk about them amongst each other, etc.

Very neat to know.

Related question then....how many tour players have coaches then? Are they just looking it up in addition to what their coaches or are there guys figuring it out solo?

My advice, stay far, far away from youtube. If what your doing, working on, or proper instruction is showing improvements don't let any other ideas creep into your head. I don't care if it's youtube, a former instructor or a trusted friend.

    • Day 58: night putting session for about an hour. Started with lag putting and ended with putts inside 9’. I need to work on putts from 6-12’, but in a solid spot overall.
    • Birdied a different #6 today (incidentally, also a par-5, but not the same one on which I previously birdied).  Here's the funny thing though:  it's the par-5 that caused me to post my "how do I avoid bogeys?" on par-5s recently.  So I guess I still haven't parred that hole.
    • Day 20, May 24.  Played 18 today, very poor ball driving.  One GIR, and it was a 4-wood from the rough.  Several other instances of hitting a green on a full swing (and at least one full swing motion -- a 50% UW) that wasn't for GIR.   Still shot an 87 and even had a birdie (chip-in).
    • Welcome to TST.  I spent a bit of time in the UK but I had to look up Wagon Wheels.  Don't think I ever saw them.  Had to Google to see.  Couple similar items in US but Google says they are different. 😁
    • Day 264 5-24 Worked on getting chest through and arms down infront of chest. Contact isn't great yet but on video looking better.
