Cobra vs Mizuno Irons - High Handicap?

Just started playing again after a ~5 year break, and planning to buy a set of clubs as I currently don’t have any. I’ve been searching on eBay and have narrowed it down to two choices for my irons - the Cobra CXIs or Mizuno MX 20s. They are basically the same price, and both are 4-PW (although the Mizuno set also has a gap wedge). Does anyone have any advice on which would be better in terms of forgiveness/high handicap play? Thanks :)

Welcome to The Sand Trap. We always recommend trying both sets and choosing the one that feels, looks and sounds (at impact) the best to you. That being said, I am partial to Mizuno and the MX 20 were nice cavity back irons.

Keep in mind when buying used that you may need to replace the grips if they are worn. Take close looks at the photos and make sure the seller tells you if the irons are standard loft and lie. If they don't know, ask them to measure a 6 iron and then check against the Mizuno site for their standard. Their 6 iron is 37.5" with the grip on.

Try looking at the Maltby Playability Factor for each and compare the MOI for each as well as their ratings. Not perfect in any way but can give you one way to compare. Best, -Marv

IMHO I would go with the Cobra set, over the years I have found them to be more forgiving. (I now have moved on to a set of Cleveland irons but I bought them new).
