Well guys, what are your opinions. I am wondering what is the softest ball that will provide the most spin around the greens? Please suggest from balls that are still being produced.

Titleist ProV1?
Nike One Platinum?
Nike One Black?
Bridgeston B330-S?
Callaway HX Tour?

Others?

Thanks for all your help!

Titleist 913 D3 10.5*

I'm not sure about the others, but I know that the HX Tour is comparable to the Pro V1x, and the HX Tour 56 is the higher spin ball.

Here's what I play:

I think it would be the ONE Platinum or the B330-S, I remember Tiger saying once that he lost a bit of distance compared to other pro's because he played a ball that spun a lot more than other balls (because he is a worker of the ball).

I am really sold on the Precept MC Lady ball.

It behaves more like a wound Titleist balata than any other ball I've tried.

I do not put any stock in magazine reviews.

All the manufacturers are advertisers. There's money changing hands. Nuff said by me.

You made the point, ALL manufacturers are advertisers...so why favor one of them with a false review?

Whomever writes the biggest check.

Trade rags are like that (IMHO)

I really like the Callaway HX Hot BITE that just came out.. 30 dollars for great distance and spin!

I've played all the premiums and find the Callaway HX Tour 56 to be the spinniest.

On a side note, the Hogan Apex Tour Deep is the same ball as the Tour 56 but with round dimples apposed to the hex dimples, and costs a bit less too.

No from what I understand of balls, all jokes aside, the most spin offers the best feel and control. Of course, the other side of the issue is that if you generate side spin, you're going to hook/slice more as well...
Where as distance balls are made to travel far with low spin, at the cost of feel and "bite."

I tend to have trouble off the tee, sometimes just using a hybrid if my driver is off that day. Have you come across any ball that's a happy medium?

I'm using the Titleist NXT right now, but I've heard good things about the Srixon AD333, too.

ive tried all of the high end balls and i persionally think its the Pro-V1x, however all of them are really good Taylor made Reds and callaways HX Tour 56 they all have great feel and all spin very well

The new Nike One Platinum is definitely the softest and most spinning. As a 14 handicap, I am able to generate some action on the greens, I love it! There is also the Nike One Black which is still a soft cover, but has a bit more distance. Stewart Cink commented at Match Play last weekend, "I'm using this new Nike One Black. It's a longer ball off the tee for me. I get great ball flight. I'm just way longer than the guys I used to not be longer than. My game has changed because I'm hitting the ball a lot longer."

There's even a new Tiger ad:
