Lol. Banning a guy with 55,000 youtube subscribers for saying “from the heart of my bottom”. This is after labelling his work as “terrible” then in the next sentence talking up his own work no one has even heard of.

Stay classy, @iacas

You're right: he was banned.

It has nothing to do with "55,000 YouTube followers." Nor does it have to do - as anyone who understands a calendar can tell - by a comment that was made over a year ago.

Instead, @Hugh Jars, what prompted @golfsidekick's ban today was, as I posted to Instagram to @golfsidekick:

You were not banned for your "heart of my bottom" post, which even your followers can see was in September, 2018. You were banned because you made four or five posts today that did nothing but insult, as you've done here, without adding anything to the conversation.

You joined, posted your videos, refused to discuss them with people who could show how and why your many theories were flawed, and then every few months, would jump back on to toss out insults. You were trolling, and you were banned for trolling. Simple as that.

I called @golfsidekick's videos and ideas "terrible" once. Absolutely. Hell, it's right here:

We've discussed - and by "we" I'm specifically not including @golfsidekick, because they were never interested in actually discussing anything, only posting and promoting their videos - the many reasons why the videos were "terrible." It's not just a word, it's an opinion formed on the viewing of a lot of their content.

I call things as I see them, and I can pretty much always back up my opinions with facts. @golfsidekick wasn't interested in that.

The posts that they made today, four or five of them, were nothing but insults. They didn't advance the discussion. They didn't add anything to the discussion at all. They just lashed out at me as some "internet pro" (clue: I'm an actual pro, and an acclaimed one at that) with "60,000 posts" (many of which have offered a TON of free info here, to all).

Standard trolling shit, and not worth more time than I've already given it. Really, not even worth this time, but I'm just cooling down after soccer to find that @Hugh Jars's only recent contribution was to make the above warning-worthy post. (I didn't warn ya, dude… I was playing soccer. But you earned it regardless of which moderator ultimately warned you.)

@Hugh Jarsthat pretty much sums that up yeah? So many people just don’t get it. Erik always backs his assessments with facts and data. If he can’t he clearly admits it’s just his opinion but hasn’t seen information to make him believe otherwise. Anytime someone comes here and soap boxes an idea they get all butt hurt if they’re not accepted with blissful praise and wonder.

@Hugh Jars is basically trolling as well and contributing nothing to the site. It is not worth discussing anything with him.

You’re right. I’m stubborn of course. Comments about 55k subscribers...lol. There are a lot more than 55k people who still follow/promote/believe poor golf advice.

And Beyoncé has like a billion followers so we should take golf advice from her then, right?

True dat. It showed him poorly, so that’s probably wise.

    • It’s simple. Hook it onto the tee box of the adjacent hole. Get a GIR with your approach. Birdie hole. #5 Hook it to the adjacent fairway Hit green with next shot. Birdie hole. I call it the Bill Method.
    • I’ll have to pay attention more attention to the area when I’m there. I know the area to the left of the bunkers off the tee is fescue/native vegetation but I can’t remember what’s around the tee boxes. Something to consider still is that you can’t see the green from the tee. You can’t even see all three bunkers IIRC. So I could have a line on the drive but still not know where it ends up. I think I’d be a lot more comfortable going with driver if I played here more regularly and had a log in my head of where shots tend to end up like I do at the other county courses. I have never hit driver on this hole off the blue tees. I have done it from the gold, but the length and angle are different, and during casual rounds when I didn’t care that much about score. I’m not sure the best time to try it is the second hole of a tournament. Or at the very least, I’m uncomfortable with the idea and that’s probably enough reason not to do it. I see what you’re saying. Wind is supposed to be pushing out more to the right on Saturday, too. I could probably aim right at the bunker and not end up in it. I don’t think there’s anything near the green other than that tiny bunker that would give me trouble. Well, trouble in addition to my short game deficiencies that is. Yea, me too. All I’m thinking is get it in play, put it near the green, chip on and two putt for 5. I’ll have plenty of opportunities to use my length as an advantage later. You realize all of this theory crafting will be moot when I chunk it off the tee, right? 😆

    • However, have you ever considered using small summer houses for such setups? They offer a great solution for creating dedicated practice areas, especially for an affluent audience looking to enhance their outdoor living space.
    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.
