So we all have 300+ yard drives I am curious from what distance you expect to be on the green? For me anytime I have GW or SW in hand I expect to be on and reasonably close, so maybe 125 and in. I don't often find myself in the 130-160 range, but from there I am confident in at least a chance at an up and down.

Are you the type person who sees 190 to the pin and thinks 'no worries' or are you the type person who says, 'oh no, not another chip to chunk'

Anything between 75-145. Should be solid and close (0-20 ft).

Two go-to distances for me are 3/4 sandwedge from 100 and five iron from 200 yards.

The five iron sound ridiculous and when I see the results from my 5 irons shots I don't know how I do it but somehow it works almost all the time.

Personally my little cut shot with the driver usually lands on the green on the 19th hole at my course which is 345 yards, most the time it lands with a bit of back spin (but if I don't quite hit it right only carries 317 yards) and don't judge me because I had my swing speed checked on a super dupe ball reader machine thingy, which tells me I swing it faster than Tiger Woods. Fo Sho!.

I figure anytime I'm within par 3 range (tee-to-green), I should be able to hit the green. If I can't, then I need to work more on my game....

My go-to distance is 95 yards: pitching wedge. Don't get me wrong, I love my gap wedge, but the pitching wedge is where I go for when I'm laying up nowadays. I've made many a great par save with it, including once lipping out a shot - on a full swing!

Anything 95-125 is fine with me, though, as most of my birdies have come from these four clubs (PW-7iron). Although just this morning I sank a birdie putt after a 4H shot, that's far from my go-to distance.

For me 110m with P.W. - 95m with the G.W. would be my most consistant shots. Also like chipping with the G.W.

70-90 yards..

My PW is my most consistant club. It lands at 70 yards 90% of the time. Occasionally, if I'm well warmed up and stretched out and swinging for the fences, it will suprise me with 90, but it's always right on target....

On my tombstone: "If this is the worst thing that ever happens to me, I'm doing just fine!"

I would say 120 and in. I feel I can put it real close at these distances.

Probably 110 and down. I'm pretty confident with my 8 iron, but not totally sold, so I say 9 iron and down and I'm very sure I can do it.

If I'm around the red disc (100 yrds) at my club then I know I can reach for my PW and generally get up and down in two from there.

Funnily enough, my PW is part of my G5 set, whereas my 52 is a ping tour wedge, and I feel more confident of my yardages and getting a good strike with my PW. I just need to practise more i guess to figue out what my exact yardages are for my other wedges!!

High confidence?
Pin hunting...140+/- and in (9 iron)
Getting on the green...185 and in (6 iron)

I'm not as confident beyond 185 (5i, 4i, H3, 3W), yet while I'm playing I never doubt myself. If I'm facing a 205 4-iron yard shot, I always feel I can get it to my target. If I didn't have the confidence to do it, why even carry a 4-iron?

175 in. That's a good six iron shot, and I'm really good with the shorter irons from six on down.

    • Rule 1.2b refers you to a section in the Committee Procedures (Section 5I) that helps explain what a Code of Conduct may (and may not) do.  Defining acceptable behavior (including smoking) and applying Stroke of DQ penalties are certainly within the Committee's authority. That Code of Conduct certainly should be available, either in written form or in a webpage accessible to all.  It may not show up on the "standard local rules" for an organization, the "hard card", as it sounds like its a policy of this particular golf course. Assuming that's the case it should show up on the Notice to Players for this particular event.  If you can't find it, ask someone, send an email, try to find out.   In summary, yes the Committee can DQ (or withdraw) a Player for smoking, even before or between rounds.  But its up to you to go from there, communication is the key here.

    • Hmm... I not sure I completely understand. If the course has a no smoking policy, then he shouldn't smoke at the course.  I'm assuming since you are aware of the policy, it must be written down somewhere.  As far as getting disqualified from the tournament, I would think that would be up to the committee. But it feels like it is within their power to disqualify, so why take the chance?
