I'm not talking side hill lie

Ah! I believe you need to be sure your shoulders slope to the slope and have the ball just back from middle of your stance. You have to be the slope.

I think he's saying the ball is SUPER side hill.

In other words, he's talking about side hill lies, but the extreme ones.

Correct - just trying to advance the ball due to the extreme shot position.  No chance to make a real shot.

Well, I've hit hybrid from a lie like that. Knee height. Third hole at Whispering Woods.

But if you don't want to do that… chip a 6-iron, and you won't have to aim as far right as you would with a wedge or something else.

I had a shot once where the ball was on the grass lip shoulder high and I was standing in bunker 150 yards out, which would have been a wedge.  I took a 7 iron gripped my left hand all the way down on the grip.  Focused on balance and 1/2 baseball swing with a hold follow thru.  It worked.

So what would be making the ball pop up?  Any suggestions for set-up adjustment to make it go better?

I don't know what you're doing, or how you would even "pop up" a mid-iron or something.

LCP within 2 club lengths, no nearer the tee.  Just kidding.  That's a tough one... grip up even more, keep your body perpendicular to the slope.

How can he do that without falling on his ass? Not possible! All I'd tell the OP is to expect it to go left, and the shorter the club you're using, the more left it will go! Just physics folks!
