Has anyone wear, or did wear, high top golf shoes?  One of my ankles kills me after every round, and I am thinking I need some ankle support.

Not specifically high top golf shoes but I tried wearing high top basketball shoes when I had ankle pain due to bone spurs from walking the course too much. I didn’t feel the high top gave much support unless I tied them really tight, but that restricted movements. I got more support from wearing ankle sleeves + custom footbeds + wide sole golf shoes to improve foot stability. My ankle pain disappeared with this combo.

My current shoes are Skechers Go Drive.  I have a pair of regular Skechers walking shoes that I hit 60 shots a day with and have no problems.  That is why I think it is the golf shoes.

Which ankle hurts? For me, the last thing I'd want from my golf shoes is to limit my ankle mobility.

Sketchers aren't exactly high top shoes and you don't have pain from hitting balls in them? Do you walk or ride?

If it's your golf shoes, I'm not sure if the problem is because you need high tops for ankle support, but I'm not really sure how you're hurting your right ankle in a right handed golf swing since the torque of the downswing is on the left side. What kind of shoes do you wear?

I cannot find it now, but I read an article comparing high top basketball shoes vs Low top. Basically the results were high tops gave minimally better support, and if someone had ankle issues they were best served by using ankle braces.

They look like the offer the same amount of ankle support as any other pair of Sketchers walking shoes. I don't think it's the shoes or the golf swing.

Maybe you can try a compression sleeve for ankle support before you buy a whole new pair of golf shoes?

I found several articles similar to the one you're mentioning.  Now I am thinking I might need to look for some better fitting,  more comfortable shoes.

    • Day 5: did a stack session. Did some slow swings between sets, working on hands down.
    • So, I might have to get out of the C-Taper golf shaft. I have an older Mizuno with a KBS Tour shaft in. I was messing around with closing my eyes and feeling where the weight of the club is being felt at. The C-Taper was all in my fingers. I didn't feel much of anything of the club head or shaft of the club. It felt super heavy in my hands. The KBS Tour I could feel a weight further away from my hands, out in space.  The Mizuno weights 2 grams more, but is about 2-3 swing weights lighter than my current irons.  So, yea. I am thinking I might sense the club better with maybe a less stout golf shaft and maybe a lighter swing weight. Probably more to do with the golf shaft. I am thinking the feeling of the weight out in space is more of the shaft loading more easily.
    • Day 25 (2 Apr 26) - Worked on green side chips at the course before helping with the school golf tournament today.  Worked on low flighted spinners to get solid hop and stops.
    • Day 227 4-2 Chest and hip turn with flow drill. Trying to get a rhythm to the hip movement/less segmented feeling.
    • A bit back at it tonight. I just wanted to add in the feel of a softer left arm through out the backswing. This helps me hinge the club. I make sure I am not bending it a ton, but not straightening it. It helps feel like I can keep the club in front of me more and lift the club up sooner.
