Ok so im new to the sand trap...my name is Ian i live in Georgia and ive been having trouble finding out about my golf clubs. A year or 2 back i got really lucky and traded a comforter for an almost complete set of Honma Golf clubs. The set came with the honma big lb driver 3 wood and 5 wood and the irons were the cavity tour lb 727 irons. they all have 3 star shafts in them and they feel like they were made for me. the clubs have literally changed my life and i am absolutely killing it on the range and at my local course. they have a surgical precision to them and they feel like absolute weapons in my hands. i have never been so comfortable with a set of clubs in my life. i used to play the callaway diablo edges and some tour series 767 irons. I even bought some mizuno mp 57 irons recently and hated them. i was so excited to try out mizuno because i had always heard "nothing feels like a mizuno" but after trying them for 6 months im worried that honma has turned me into a snob. I hated the mp 57's i ended up reselling them. the butter feeling just wasnt there compared to my Honma clubs...my 3 and 5 woods are guaranteed stinger bringers, and my irons are on point all day...but they are older clubs they seem like early or late 90s but i am having trouble finding any info on them. i will put them next to any new set of clubs and i always go back to them. i hear that it is rare to find a set of clubs that is so perfect for a golfer so i know i need to keep them but if i ever did want to sell them what could they be worth and can you give me any info on them. i found a site in malaysia but it was fairly limited. i would love to find out more about these clubs and While i have found out a lot about honma it has been hard to find out about the lb 727 irons and the big lb woods. any help would be appreciated. Thanks for your help and thanks for your time. Peace Dudes! oh i almost forgot. the set did not come with a putter or a 4 iron. actually it did but it was a mitsushiba putter and a Walt hagen international 4 iron so if you know where i could find the single honma irons they have been just as hard to find. anyways Peace dudes!

Hello and welcome to TST. Small suggestion first...use paragraph breaks when you’re texting a lengthy post. It’s quite an eye strain otherwise 😉. Have you entered your club description into an Ebay search? Sometimes you’ll find information that way. Especially value wise. Have you tried to call Honma and ask about your clubs? Glad you found a set like you did. Be wary of making such posts regarding their astonishing performance..the Golf Gods are listening and don’t take to kindly those remarks.😙

Greetings,

What information are you looking for?

Here's a Big LB 3 wood with some specifications listed:

HONMA BIG-LB 3 WOOD GRAPHITE PRECISION REGULAR FLEX #D2011 - HONMA

Not sure if that's the same 3 wood as you have. There are quite a few Big LB woods and drivers out there.

As @Vinsk mentioned ebay has lots of irons so do the other trader sites. The 767's are not as commonly traded as the 747's and some other Honmas. Post a picture of the irons that you have and the shaft that's in them. I'm often out there trading clubs and stuff. I can add your 4 iron to my list of stuff I'm keeping my eyes open for and if I come across one I'll let you know.

As a way to expand your options would you consider a 747 4-iron with the same shaft and grip?

Anyhow, welcome to the forum.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Take this advice @Ian the anxious golfer. Talk too loudly or too certainly about anything and the Golf Gods will smite you.

I was really just wondering specs but also when they were made and also what materials and i really need to find a heavier weight for my driver. the guy who runs the range said it probably would be impossible to find a wight but to just go with some lead tape.

Yessir thats  the big lb 3 wood! I would definitely consider going with an lb 737 or 747 if i cant find a 727 4 and 8 iron . if i cant make this set whole if i ever save up enough id like to buy a set of the pp727 or pp737 blades that are on ebay every now and then.

I have called Honma to ask them how the tour world 727 compare to the lb 727 but the guy i spoke with wasnt sure. i was told mine play more like beres and that i might not like the tour worlds as much but they look sharp to me. i am open to suggestions

Thanks for the feedback fellas oh and by the way.....

By the way i went to the range today and i hadn't read any of your replies at that point but its creepy how you were right about me receiving a proper smiting! it was like a foreign set of clubs for a second there with the trajectory being super high today while before it was piercing and low.  Golf Gods got me for that one!

@Adam C may be able to help. He’s a club builder and knows this stuff very well.

  • iacas changed the title to Honma Big Lb Quest for Knowledge! And a 4 Iron!

Some pictures of your clubs in question would be helpful. Specs will likely be difficult to find other than physically taking the club apart and measuring the component pieces for weight, angles, length etc.

As far as value goes, any old golf club will be worth little unless it belonged to someone famous. Honma isn't a popular brand in this country so the market for it would be very limited here also. They will always be worth far more to you than to anyone else.

    • One thing I've noticed with Mini Drivers is that the manufacturers seem like they keep their quantities somewhat limited.  The last two TaylorMade Mini's and the Callaway AI Smoke Mini were sold out quickly.
    • Huh? That's the niche of these mini-drivers. They can still work off the tee and off the fairway. They're designed for and work for both things, which is all that blurb says. You can see from the photos that it's a bit of a deeper face, which I find is more important off the tee than the fairway.
    • This statement doesn't make much sense to me.  So, I think the push and pull between a 3-wood meant for off the turf versus off the tee is how tall the face is on the 3-wood. I do not get how this mini driver would be good off the turf, or at least get the height needed to stop the ball as a normal 3-wood meant for off the ground. Maybe they care more about hitting the 3-wood off the tee versus off the turf. Nearly every strike would be low on the clubface relative to the CG location.  I would take that statement as more as marketing over what you would actually expect the club to perform.
    • No, not that Minnie Driver. This one: It's a mini driver from Titleist, available for Tour validation/testing starting this week at Kapalua. It's available in righty and lefty and is only in 13° models for now. GT280 is a direct result of Titleist’s collaboration with PGA TOUR players on the development and testing of the TSR 2W prototype, which debuted on TOUR at last year’s PLAYERS Championship. With many players seeking an additional option at the top end of their setup, Titleist tour reps and R&D engineers worked with players such as Cameron Young and Will Zalatoris to dial in a 13-degree head that worked as a go-to club off the tee and off the deck. Now on Tour: New Titleist GT280 The arrival of the 2025 PGA TOUR season this week in Maui brings with it an addition to Titleist’s breakthrough line of GT metalwoods: the new Titleist GT280.
