Hello I am a 21 year old who plays golf, I play to a scratch handicap and am looking to take my game to the next level. Im not quite sure what this means though. maybe apply to a college, maybe try to get onto some sort of tour. Im just not quite sure and I would like some direction/feedback. I just want to improve and will be totally dedicated to this if given the opportunity. Also, if you can help me out, please do!

I took my weightloss to the next level once..
It's a damn shame I couldn't make it up the stairs to join it..

On my tombstone: "If this is the worst thing that ever happens to me, I'm doing just fine!"

Find a good teaching pro who has had success with competive golfers who have a similar game to yours. Seek feedback on your strength and weaknesses from same. Compete in high level amateur events. Consider college if you are commited to gaining a degree, not to improve your golf. If you can't beat the top amateurs in your area first you are setting yourself up to fail. The best are not the best because of great golf skills they are also the best competitiors on the course.

I have competed against the top amateurs around and won, I have won my club championship and invitational. Posted top 10 finishes in the top amateur tournaments around where I play. I am going to really focus on the tournaments I am entered into this season. Some serious mental and physical training is in order.

Read The Short Game Bible by Dave Pelz. It may or may not improve your short game per se but there is more important information in there. The first hundred pages or so deal with his work with improving such players games such as Tom Kite to name one. Many of the information is keeping stats of your game, making a spreadsheet and finding out specific areas you need to work on. For example, you may find out that your sand save percentage is less than 1/3 of the time. That could help you target specific areas that may be able to take people from great amatuers to a level greater than that. Hope it helps, might cost $35 at your local bookstore but will help drastically.

    • Played Musgrove Mill GC today. 72.3/155. First round in 4 weeks and shot 44-39. 2 triple bogies on the front and horseshoed 4 putts today. Overall, 10 fairways, 8 GIR and 31 putts.  Set a goal today to par the 3 toughest holes (4, 18 and 9) and birdie 10 or 12 (which I have never birdied). Parred 4, 9 and birdied 10. Crushed my drive on 18 and had 139 left, but in casual water. Dropped back a little ways and took an extra club. Hit my 8-iron well but it came up short. Bunker shot from wet sand left me an 18’ for my goal. Read the break well but perhaps an inch too much break, and a touch heavy on the speed. Ball circled the hole 270* and tapped in for a bogey. Handicap dropped 0.1.
