Hello Everyone

Looking for advice regarding a golf mat for use indoors, with all clubs.  I have a surgically repaired neck so I need something that will not be hard on joints.  TrueStike is outside of my price range.  I am looking at SwingTurf from Rain or Shine Golf or Fiberbuilt but am open to ideas.

I advance - thank you

I’ve had the Real Feel mat for a couple of years and have hit thousands of balls off it. It has hardly shown wear. It is about 1.5” thick, so you need a stance mat or platform. I just made one out of plywood and slats.

Thanks for the information. Did you put anything under the plywood to help keep it from sliding around during swinging?  Or is the the weight of it and standing on it keep it in place?

If you get the full size mat to stand on, then there is no need for anything under it. I got two small mats. One mat sits on the cement in my driveway and I made a little stand with a rug on it to stand on. The other, I made a fairly complex stand because my other driveway has a slope. You can see them in my My Thread. Check the later videos. The link is in my signature below.

I finally got a chance to look at your thread.  Visuals tell the entire story.  I see how your set up would not slide all over and stay in place.

@boogielicious have you ever tried a platform under your feet that raise your feet above the ball or tilt them back/forward and such?  Looks like it wouldn't be that hard to do and allow for some practice with uneven lies.  Whatt do you think?  Bad idea or not?  I may try it as soon as get my set up done

I ordered  a SwingTurf Golf Mat from Rain or Shine Golf and it just arrived.

It is 4' x 5'.  Looks like inwill have to get shorter tees but it holds a tee really nice.

I plan on using it after work and will report back how it is.

Finally starting to get an indoor set up started.

Next up will be a launch monitor

It is heavy duty. Been using it outside since March and after thousands of balls/hits, it still looks and feels new.

Well my first day indoors hitting golf balls.  I ended up putting card board down completely in front of the mat and before my net.  I also moved my mat back to about 10' 6" from the net.  This was done out of self preservation.  I also started using just yellow shag balls so I would have a better chance at ducking them.

The mat is great.  No issues hitting a 7 iron off of it, no shock at all.  Well one golf ball with the 7 iron came back so fast I did contemplate putting on hockey goalie gear.

As I use this from time to time I will post updates in case anyone wants to know about how the mat is working.

Check your alignment.

People get this wrong somewhat often, but you're better off putting the target line slightly left-center of the mat. That way if you shank it, it'll still possibly be caught, and if you hit them straight they'll hit the middle of the net (middle-left-center).

Oh Yah!!!!  That is some of the best golf advice ever.  No sarcasm!  Moved the net over by our loading dock, thought about off centering the mat but didn't.  Hit some metal pallet racking and WOW did it get exciting for a moment.

All said and done, the ball missed me but I have no idea where it is in our warehouse.  Staff will find it someday.

And that mat is now off center.

Thought I would add a quick update.

Hit about 45ish shots on Friday and felt no pain or issues.  Hit about 45ish shots yesterday and no pain or issues.  So today is my 2nd day in a row off of the mat and so far no pain or issues.  I am sore from my overall work but that is to be expected.  Not sore from using this mat but will see how I fell tomorrow and Thursday.

This golf mat is now considered my wife and my golf mat!  I am happy about that.  She has really enjoyed hitting golf balls off of it.  She is thinking WE should get a launch monitor as that would add to the fun.

Oh how I love my wife 🙂 adding a launch monitor.

Now that's an obsession!  Does your wife know that you consider the golf mat your wife?   🤪    I know what you meant.

I think it's great that you as a couple have found golf together.

Oh my gosh 🙂 thanks for pointing that out, it got me laughing pretty good.  And yes it would not surprise me one bit if she stated that about our golf mat.
