I hope more and more people are figuring this stuff out, taking those CC fitting sheets to other fitters and getting fit the right way. I just don't get how someone can look at those prices and be ok with that??

I think that the current prices of gold and platinum that they use are reflected in the price.

Seriously - what sort of idiot would pay these prices? In @billchao's post for two fairway woods I was wondering where the iron set was.

People are paying for a shafting, not shafts. Geez.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

I ended up making an appointment at PGATSS and got fit in their tour studio. Overall it was a good experience. It wasn’t as magical and data driven as seen on TXG videos appear to be, but I think I came out of it with what I wanted. I was trying to be brand agnostic, but did mention that I would buy the Ping 425 Max if I just bought off the rack. I tried maybe 3 different heads, but we primarily focused on that driver.

I wasn't hitting well at all that day. But then again I don’t have a consistent driver swing. I warmed up with my flimsy Callaway Strata driver, and he asked if that was my actual swing. He said my swing speed was 80. Swinging slow and in the middle of my stance is the only way I can hit it straight, and it goes super high for about 220 and stops. If I put the ball in the front on my stance I hook it way left. Anyways when I actually swing for real, I was averaging 100-105 swing speed.

Ultimately I ended up getting a 9* Ping 425 Max with a 65g Ping Tour Stiff shaft, turned down to an 8* with the weight set to fade. At first I was a little skeptical, because I didn’t perform well there. I was still hitting it to the left. He told me I just needed some practice with it. After a few rounds last week, I’m very happy with it. I’ve been averaging about 275 with it. I’ve even hit a few 290 according to my Garmin watch! I’m so happy to have my first real driver!

    • Day 250 4-29 Getting chest through with speed on downswing and wrist arch. Also worked on some moving the pelvis slightly away in the backswing. Feel like im going too fast and long, looks like it on the recordings too.
    • Interesting that it's no penalty, but then again, I can't imagine someone would purposefully put their foot out there in this situation or one like it.  And then there was the time someone purposefully deflected his own ball during a major, but that's very different too. The only time I can recall a ball I hit hitting another player or their equipment was ages ago -- over a decade and a half ago.  I had a 3' putt for an 89 and someone (a random pairing, not someone I knew) decided it was a good time for goaltending practice.  That wouldn't fall under this rule, though (and it wasn't in a tournament anyway). Thanks for continuing to share these, Dave!  I always find these interesting.
    • Day 51 (29 Apr 26) - Worked with a few of the golf team kids plus my grandson (he’s too young for the team as it’s middle-high school age and he’ll be 10 Sat).  He put on a small hitting clinic (hitting off the same tees as the rest of the boys) - one of the older kids called him a “coach”.  Worked in a few shots for myself - had the light bag: driver, 7w, 4 - 6 - 8 - Pw - Sw (DCI 962’s except the Sw a 981) and Zebra putter….got in some great tee shots, a couple of recovery and an awesome up and down for bogie: 55 yds out, hitting 4th shot due to 2nd getting tangled in limbs - see the window I need to hit for a tight spinner with the Sw - nail it to a postage letter distance from the cup for a tap in bogie….my kind of practice.
    • Day 21, April 29.  Before going to work this morning, I worked in my indoor practice room for 20 minutes.   This was entirely 6-iron shots with the usual step.  Video yesterday showed me that I'm still straightening my trail leg too much (leading to the backswing length issue I've been working to fix), so I focused on not doing that in my rehearsal swings.
    • Exactly correct.   I was absolutely certain about the penalty (none here), but the bit about where they play from can be really confusing the first time you read it.  In my big paper rule book, i used colored highlighters to make it clear.  Good thing I did, at the Cascades there's little to no cell service, so using the rules app on the phone wasnn't possible.
