My fav is "whipped cream on sh!t" - scrambling all over the hole, yet saving par. Or what happened to me last weekend, blading a SW out of the bunker, hitting the lip, and rolling to within 5 feet of the pin.

I thought whipped cream on s#!t was sinking an eight footer for 8.

Best, Mike Elzey

My uncle would always say "Whipped cream on sh** " if he holed a long putt or chipped after messing up a hole, e.g. holing a long putt for an 8.

When a friend leaves a putt way short: "Take off your panties and putt it."

After I make a 2 on a par-3, I've been known to put my tee in the ground, back off, look at my playing partners, and I'm "Oh I'm sorry, did anyway make a 1?"

A laughed hard at the Hitler one. Miine is when you have a ball that you cant seem to lose. Like you hit it and you think its gone, but it's always there. I call that the Rasputin ball. For all who don't know who Rasputin is, he a a Russian healer guy in government in the 1880's and other officals always kept trying to kill him, but he couln't die. One time they shot him 10 times in a burning house and he didnt die! :)

When a male friend duffs a shot...

"Next time, try hitting it with your purse."

Or "Next time, ask your boyfriend to hit it for you."

"Cub Scout" = Choking up on the club

"Going Disco" = On the green

"Beef Stew" = Went in the water (because a lot of water on the golf course looks like beef stew)

That's a good one. I nearly spilled my coffee on the keyboard between the Hitler shots and Rasputin ball.

There's always "Don't Noonan." You could probably come up with golf slang for a shot for every Caddyshack character. Let's see: Smails: A slice in the woods on #1.

damn i grannied that putt.

should say, at the course i played at some time ago there is a par 3 outside the clubhouse and in full view of all the members in the bar.

its 120 yards with 2 bunkers at the front, the closest bunker is referred to as the grannies bunker and the second bunker is called the wifeies bunker.

which leads to bogeying this particular par 3

i thinned a wedge in to the wifies bunker splashed out and then ended up grannying the putt for a 4.

    • I’d go with the Titleist if you liked the look of the blades but were suffering with distance. They should be a little more forgiving than a full blade and still retain some workability. Also remember to consider the shafts each have as this will be a big contributor to how they feel. Clemsonfan is right though… get fit or spend a bit of time on a launch monitor 🤙
    • Day 28: 2026.01.30 Managed to make time for a few swings out back today. Need a proper bit of range time this weekend.
    • Day 30, 1/30.  Six minutes this morning hitting a few more range balls, indoors, off a mat, into the net.  Did this before leaving the house.

    • Hi All my New Year’s resolution was to start playing golf again. I’ve caught the bug and am really enjoying hitting balls at a couple of my local ranges.looking forward to getting back out on courses in the spring. Based in the UK and 38 years old, I’ve been playing since I was a kid. Best handicap I’ve held is 2 in my mid 20s. Over the past 10 years I’ve played once or twice a year, sometimes with friends or for work. Could shoot 4-5 over, but just as easily shoot 15-20 over. I’ve moved to South Wales and am very lucky to be near some world class links courses, which gives me even more motivation to get playing again! I will start looking for a local coach in my area when I have more time to invest, but I recalled scouring this forum a few years ago and finding some good tips and advice so wanted to give it a try to see if there were any glaring issues I could fix in the meantime!  A few swings below… one from 1st week Jan and one from today. I have fixed my P1 takeaway to my liking and am now working on what I see as pretty severe early extension & hip thrust. Also terrible hip rotation. I’d like confirmation that this is indeed a problem and and suggestions on a few good drills. Thanks for reading 🙂 I've been Playing Golf for: 30+ years My current handicap index or average score is: 10ish over My typical ball flight is: mid The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: push right with irons, hooks and push with driver!  Videos:
