Been in the airline business since college in operations control and coordination or as a ramp rat. Relocated recently for my wife's new job, so I help out at the local airport with a major airline.

Waterfowl Habitat Management.   I own Geese Relief a company that harasses and haze geese.  We work mainly in Southern Oregon keeping geese off of golf courses, city parks, farms and ranches.  Most of my business is with golf courses so not only do I play lots of golf I get to spend most of my working hours on a golf course.  Since my dogs and I are good at what we do there is plenty of free time to hit balls or play a few holes.

I'm in Business Development for a Real Estate Company.  Real Estate Agents love having golf tournaments - mostly to rub their ego's up against each other lol.

Signing up property managements doesn't allow for ego, but I still enjoy the odd tournament.

I'm a senior systems engineer and specialize in three diverse areas: Avionics for spacecraft and aircraft, Network communications and infrastructures, and Audio-Visual Systems Integration. I have 30 years in these fields. Prior to that, I was an Avionics Technician in the US Navy for 8 years, with stints with VQ-4 (C-130's) and HSL-34 (SH-2F's).

I work presently in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for an aerospace company that manufactures aircraft radios

Golf kept me close to my father during the four years in the 1960's that I worked for him on weekends as his caddy. I didn't play then, but later did start playing once he insisted "it was time". It's been a joy ever since.

    • Interesting that it's no penalty, but then again, I can't imagine someone would purposefully put their foot out there in this situation or one like it.  And then there was the time someone purposefully deflected his own ball during a major, but that's very different too. The only time I can recall a ball I hit hitting another player or their equipment was ages ago -- over a decade and a half ago.  I had a 3' putt for an 89 and someone (a random pairing, not someone I knew) decided it was a good time for goaltending practice.  That wouldn't fall under this rule, though (and it wasn't in a tournament anyway). Thanks for continuing to share these, Dave!  I always find these interesting.
    • Day 51 (29 Apr 26) - Worked with a few of the golf team kids plus my grandson (he’s too young for the team as it’s middle-high school age and he’ll be 10 Sat).  He put on a small hitting clinic (hitting off the same tees as the rest of the boys) - one of the older kids called him a “coach”.  Worked in a few shots for myself - had the light bag: driver, 7w, 4 - 6 - 8 - Pw - Sw (DCI 962’s except the Sw a 981) and Zebra putter….got in some great tee shots, a couple of recovery and an awesome up and down for bogie: 55 yds out, hitting 4th shot due to 2nd getting tangled in limbs - see the window I need to hit for a tight spinner with the Sw - nail it to a postage letter distance from the cup for a tap in bogie….my kind of practice.
    • Day 21, April 29.  Before going to work this morning, I worked in my indoor practice room for 20 minutes.   This was entirely 6-iron shots with the usual step.  Video yesterday showed me that I'm still straightening my trail leg too much (leading to the backswing length issue I've been working to fix), so I focused on not doing that in my rehearsal swings.
    • Exactly correct.   I was absolutely certain about the penalty (none here), but the bit about where they play from can be really confusing the first time you read it.  In my big paper rule book, i used colored highlighters to make it clear.  Good thing I did, at the Cascades there's little to no cell service, so using the rules app on the phone wasnn't possible.
    • Taking a crack it, but looks pretty clear. 11.1  Ball in Motion Accidentally Hits Person or Outside Influence. a. No Penalty to Any Player If a player’s ball in motion accidentally hits any person (including the player) or outside influence: There is no penalty to any player. This is true even if the ball hits the player, the opponent or any other player or any of their caddies or equipment. Reading further down it looks like they have to play the ball as it lies. No replay from the previous spot.
