Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know if there are any other apps that do what Mirror Vision does?  Mirror Vision is good, but the only gripe I have is that it doesn't take advantage of the multiple lenses on my iPhone for wider angle shots (unless I'm missing something.

I'll keep looking but perhaps someone knows of something else.

Thanks!

Danny

Do you film in landscape? MirrorVision is set up in portrait, but I film in landscape and then just rotate the video in Photos when I edit it. I usually trim it in MirrorVision first, then in Photos I use the sliders to have the slow motion on the swing only. Then rotate and save. I also can do this in iMovie. But iMovie does have an upload direct to YouTube anymore.

Camera Plus has a similar feature but I serious doubt it's any better than MV. You could attach a wide angle lens, but probably not what you wanted to hear.

You probably have a better chance of getting MirrorVision to add the support for the wide angle lens than to get another app that supports the wide angle lens AND does everything else that Mirror Vision does.

CoachNow also doesn't seem to support the different lenses. It's kinda annoying.

Whether in landscape or in portrait mode, I’m not able to zoom out for a wider shot. I’d like to film head on and the stalls at the driving range are a bit narrow for a regular lens.

Absolutely annoying. It’s great that these guys created this app in the first place with golfers in mind I’m guessing, but If they’re gonna do it, go all the way.

Stalls are tough for filming. The lightning is bad and there’s not a lot of room. LiveView Pro supposedly can film in tighter spaces, but the video quality is not as good.

Stalls man... Down the line is fine.  Plenty of room for that, but head on is the problem.  I'm going to take iacas' suggestion and reach out to the developer.  I'm sure I won't be the first one reaching out to them on this.

It works well as a digital mirror for rehearsals, and okay for slower speed stuff/partial swings, but for full swings, I find that the frame rate just isn't high enough compared to slow motion mode on a cell phone.

    • My flop shots are 6-7° down (AoA). Does that answer it? 😄  The longer answer is… You have to be able to do both shots.
    • I hope you don't mind me raising this one from the dead. I got shortgamechef's video access thing for a few months in 2024. I watched his yip fix videos (the general gist is similar to the first video above, but with a lot more detail) and it made a lot of sense. I was working on it in my backyard off a mat for a while and my yippy thing was mostly gone. Aside from anything else, the flop shot using that technique is so easy and controllable. But I got onto a golf course for the first time of the year and found myself by the green on a downslope with the ball sitting down a little in the rough and I was, not to put too fine a point on it, f***ed. Shallow is all well and good from a good flat lie and I understand it, but you can't make that your be all and end all. I still don't know if it's a good idea to use steep all the time or just when you need to. I have a hard enough time with one technique, let alone too.  Just got a pitching skillest lesson with Erik and unless I misunderstood things some, he wants me a bit steeper. @iacas - where do you fall on the steep vs shallow argument and how do you vary it according to need?
