Who tends to win these? Great ball strikers or great putters? My guess would be that a great ball striker that's a good putter might be the best combination. Who's at the top of the GIR rankings?

I think many of the holes are crazy short... so I would say whoever gets hot with the wedges and putter probably has the best shot.

It is with much sadness that I report that I have a meeting at 1:15. As I'm in CA, this is smack dab in the middle of the par-3 contest. Therefore, I will use TiVo and will come back to TST this evening after I've watched it.

I'm kind of bummed. Word must have got out about the stream - because it was perfectly smooth this morning and now it's quite choppy

Oh well, better than nothing. It's so cool to see Arnie, Jack and Gary playing together... and neat to see the kids caddying. What a beautiful place!

When things started to get choppy I started to wonder if it was on my end or theirs. Looks like you answered my question. Streaming coverage was pretty good right around until they started coverage of it on ESPN then the quality started to deteriorate.

I was amazed that Palmer stuck it so close (22 inches) on the first hole, and then Nicklaus went and stuck it close on the second.

I just saw the Golf Channel clip of Palmer, Player, and Nicklaus all sticking the ball next to the pin on the final hole. Pretty good for guys their age.

If I'm not mistaken I saw Kelly Tillman in her caddy uniform chunk one in the lake.

I rather enjoyed watching. Unfortunately, the TiVo ran out - I taped the 2-hours it was supposed to be and the half-hour wrap up after it and I still didn't see the whole thing!

Hopefully, next year they'll figure out how many hours it'll be. Regardless, I can say with certainty that this was the best Masters par-3 contest I've watched on TV thus far.
