Looks like it would go pretty good with that fruity whiskey of yours

Seriously though, that looks pretty good. Where is it made?

Lots of beer lovers here.  I guess golf and beer go together like...well...golf and beer.

I didn't read all 17 pages of posts, but anyone ever have Maui Big Swell IPA?  One of the best beers I've ever had.

I gotta say, American Beer has come a LOOOOONGGGG way from the bad old days days of Pabst Blue Ribbon, Old Milwaukee and Budweiser. Pretty impressive considering how terrible the selection was when I first started travelling in the states. Granted, Canada has their fair share of crappy, commercial grade swill ie: Labatt Blue, Molson Export and pretty much anything brewed by the big breweries. Thank god for passionate people who had enough drinking ditch water and started up their own Craft Brewers and Microbreweries.

Yours in earnest, Jason.

Nice. Do you use some kind of Kit or are you brewing from scratch? I often considered making my own beer (currently make my own wine for about $3 a bottle) but figured I'd be hard pressed to produce enough to keep up with my consumption! How much do you typically produce at a time?

It's not from a kit, but brewed starting with malt extract (plus a bit of actual malt for color). I did some research and put together a fairly simple recipe that seems to be working pretty well so far. I hope someday to go to from scratch---i.e., starting from malt, but I need to get some experience and prove I'm going to stick with the hobby. This is my first attempt, so we'll see how it turns out.

It's now been fermented into beer, just letting it sit for a while before I bottle it. This is a 5 gallon batch, which will make about 48 bottles when you account for some inevitable losses. Its 4-6 weeks from start to drinkability. For my household, this would mean needing a pipeline to keep us in homebrew full time. Not such a bad idea, but we'll see.

Interesting you mention wine. Our next project is to make a batch of mead, which is somewhere between beer and wine in terms of process.

Love me some HOPPY beer!! Stout is my first love but a nice assertive bitter runs a close second. Try this if you can find it, technically  not a bitter but tons'o'hoppy goodness >>>
