Hi Golfers!  I'm new to NYC and looking to meet friends through my love of golf.  As a single male in my 30's, i'd like to join a men's league if it exists.  I have a car so I can drive.  I'm being told that the golf clubs in the suburbs are mostly consisting of families with kids who live there.  Where do the single guys in NYC go?  Does it exist?  Any suggestions?

Split Rock/Pelham in the Bronx is probably my favorite, but Van Cortlandt in the BX is also an option.  There's Kissena and Clearview in Queens which are also pretty good, and there's another in Brooklyn (i forget the name) that is good.

If you ever want to drive up north to Poughkeepsie let me know and we can meet up and play a round.

Chelsea Piers, lol? I think a Drive Shack or some variant is under construction? Most professionals working in Manhattan drive out for an hour or so to either NJ, LI, or Westchester and play whatever's public. Or take the LIRR to Bethpage. Maybe that 9 hole course I forget the name in Newark. Skyway! I play Bethpage mostly so if you want to meet up.

When I lived in NYC there was a lot of golf in North Jersey, it's a bit of a drive to some places but well worth it.

Sussex county is North-West NJ but there is some great golf.   There are at least 5 courses in the Crystal Springs complex and Great Gorge and Skyview are pretty cool as well.   I feel like there are a lot in Bergen county but the only one I remember is Emerson.

I agree with @nevets88 , get out to Bethpage.   I had a great time when I went.   if you want to take a weekend, go play Montauk Downs.   I've heard it's an experience but I never made it out there.

Manhattan is also dotted with a whole bunch of indoor studios with launch monitors. Like Hack Shack or Five Iron. Would definitely find a game in places like that.

Here is Five Iron’s page on its league. By the very nature of location in Manhattan more likely golfers are single. Or at least based in Manhattan.

I'm in Poughkeepsie if you're ever interested in playing. or trying to get a group together. Play mostly at Baird, but open to whatever. July kinda tight, August opens up for me. I don't mind driving a bit too, if we had others interested.

    • I’d go with the Titleist if you liked the look of the blades but were suffering with distance. They should be a little more forgiving than a full blade and still retain some workability. Also remember to consider the shafts each have as this will be a big contributor to how they feel. Clemsonfan is right though… get fit or spend a bit of time on a launch monitor 🤙
    • Day 28: 2026.01.30 Managed to make time for a few swings out back today. Need a proper bit of range time this weekend.
    • Day 30, 1/30.  Six minutes this morning hitting a few more range balls, indoors, off a mat, into the net.  Did this before leaving the house.

    • Hi All my New Year’s resolution was to start playing golf again. I’ve caught the bug and am really enjoying hitting balls at a couple of my local ranges.looking forward to getting back out on courses in the spring. Based in the UK and 38 years old, I’ve been playing since I was a kid. Best handicap I’ve held is 2 in my mid 20s. Over the past 10 years I’ve played once or twice a year, sometimes with friends or for work. Could shoot 4-5 over, but just as easily shoot 15-20 over. I’ve moved to South Wales and am very lucky to be near some world class links courses, which gives me even more motivation to get playing again! I will start looking for a local coach in my area when I have more time to invest, but I recalled scouring this forum a few years ago and finding some good tips and advice so wanted to give it a try to see if there were any glaring issues I could fix in the meantime!  A few swings below… one from 1st week Jan and one from today. I have fixed my P1 takeaway to my liking and am now working on what I see as pretty severe early extension & hip thrust. Also terrible hip rotation. I’d like confirmation that this is indeed a problem and and suggestions on a few good drills. Thanks for reading 🙂 I've been Playing Golf for: 30+ years My current handicap index or average score is: 10ish over My typical ball flight is: mid The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: push right with irons, hooks and push with driver!  Videos:
