I am considering buying either a TaylorMade Burner fairway wood or a rescue and I wonder if any of you have used either and have experiences. Thanks!

The burner has a larger visual profile that i didnt really like. The rescue was more suitable to my eye. They both hit fine, the burner had a little more game improvement if i recall though.

I use the TM Burner 3W and have found it to be easier to hit than alternative OEM fairways that I've tried. A nice, easy swing puts this straight out on the fairway 225-245 for me (about the same as my driver.)

I tried the Burner rescue but I found it difficult to keep the ball flight on a mid trajectory -- it is easy to balloon. Fairways are great, the Resue couldn't dislodge my Nickent 3DX.

I would try and hit them side-by-side, what you might find out is that the Rescue hybrid hits the ball just as far and more consistent than the Burner FW.

I have the Burner 15 * 3 wood and a Rescue 19* 3 Hybrid, and love both. The ball flight on the Rescue is high, but it's so consistent and it sounds great when struck. Plus it works so well on chips and bumps. The fairway wood is the only one I was able to make consistent contact on, and it's real nice off the tee, though it tends to pull/hook a bit for me.

I like the rescue because you can get it out of the rough easier than the burner 3 wood.

Sorry, I didnt state my question well. I am considering buying one or both a burner 3 wood to replace my current one, or a 19* rescue to replace my 3 iron, and I want reviews of the clubs themselves, not against each other. I am also considering the ft hybrids and woods so reviews or comparisons would be helpful. Thanks!

I still carry a 3 iron, but it hasn't been swung in quite a while. The 19* hybrid does that clubs work quite well.

I really don't hit my 3 iron that great most of the time so I just use a 3/4 swing with a Burner 5 wood 18*. I love that club so much I just purchased the Burner 15* 3 wood and pulled my 3 iron out of the bag.

I have hit the 5 wood out of the rough many times and it cuts the grass without a problem.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

I cannot more highly recommend the burner hybrids. Ive tried about 10 different hybrids, and these are by FAR the best. I carry the 3 and 4 hybrids in place of my 3 and 4 irons. Oddly, I find it easy to work the ball with these cubs, as well as hit it high and straight. I

I agree - I have a burner three wood and it's really great club. Killin off the tee and I can hit out of rough stuff too. it goes far and sounds great. I can fade it too...but when i try to draw it I iver do it but I am sure a better player could. I love these cubs. I also have a TM rescue 3 hybrid...another solid stick in my bag that wont be leaving anytime soon - just need a shaft upgrade but the club is kick ass.

anybody know if they coming out w/ new hybrid burner rescues soon?

just found this on GolfWRX (not a member, just googled)

posted this in the other thread but figured i'd give it a topic of its own: my rep stopped in today with a few new goodies (that he had just received this past Friday). we were the first account he's shown them to. here's what i was told (he wouldn't let me take photos as TM's embargo lifts July 1st - approximately 2-3 weeks before these clubs will hit retail). there will be two new Burner FWs: Burner FW (note that it will NOT be called the Tour Burner FW) - available in 15° 3W, 18° 5W, 21° 7W. 3W will be 190cc volume, dual crown tech, black crown, "steel" color face i.e. not black and chrome sole. .350" tip, 59g stock shaft, HC looks like mini-Tour Burner HC. basically looks like a miniature version of the Tour Burner driver. sits nice but about 1-2° closed. Burner FW "Tour lofts" (there will NOT be a TP version of the FW as TM feels the TP-line is becoming overused and losing it's appeal) - available in 13° TS, 14.5° 3W, 17.5° 5W. 3W will be 160cc volume. dual crown tech, black crown, "steel" color face i.e. not black and chrome sole. .350" tip, 70g stock shaft, HC looks like mini-Tour Burner HC. much more compact from front to back than the "regular" Burner FW and looks AWESOME. sits great, square to 1° open eyeballing it. the key points is that they are both .350" tip and will be priced exactly the same at retail - no price premium for "tour loft" model. new Burner Hybrid has a triangular shape ala CGB Max hybrid but not as pronounced and with the same esthetics as the above described FWs in terms of color scheme, etc. sits square. initial impressions was that it's almost like a stepchild of the current TP rescue and CGB Max hybrid..black crown though and really looks good. no "TP/Tour" model mentioned. as mentioned, embargo on "info" lifts July 1st with products to hit the streets later that month. also brought along the CGB Max Limited driver which is MUCH nicer than the standard CGB Max driver. deeper face, more compact front to back and appeared to be 2° open. brought the CS spider along too...very nice. that's all i can recall off the top of my head at this late hour. i haven't been a big fan of TM for the last few years but must admit their new stuff has caught my eye. edit: Tour Burner TP irons will probably be announced sometime shortly after their rep meetings in August.

Any word on the lofts of the new hybrids? Also, does the triangle shape mean that they will be all about forgiveness and unworkable?

I just bought a Burner 3 wood, and this is the most amazing club that I have ever hit. It feels great on a pure strike, goes about as far as my driver, and only has a slight fade as opposed to the major one on my driver. This club is sweet.

Has anyone heard anymore information on the new stuff? Pics or lofts on the hybrids would be great!
