According to a couple of reports I've read/heard the incident happened two weeks ago. If that is true then I think the issue may be less of a factor than most people are thinking. We have to wait and see what happens happens with Scott early in the week to see how much of an effect it will have on his ability to play solid shots.

Yeah, I just heard late last night that it happened three weeks ago and involved his hand and a car door (ouch). He supposedly played a practice round, too. At least it explains the Memorial WD.

Not that I am suggesting anything, but this thread made me think about how easy it was for me to change my grip from interlocking to overlapping. I posted a thread a little while back about pinky finger pain, which was getting worse, and I was waking up in the morning with a locked-up pinky finger due to damaged tendons (classic trigger finger symptoms). I switched to an overlapping grip and it took me less then 9 holes to completely mentally switch over. At first it felt odd, and in just an hour of play it became completely natural - my hands went into the grip by themselves, and my pinky has been feeling a lot better ever since.

I don't think Scott should compound the issue by playing. To compensate for the finger, it's possible that he may try to make adjustments on his swing or grip, resulting in poor play. Plus, there is a lot of golf, left, including two more majors.

Not to mention 20+ years left of his career. It wouldn't kill him to miss this event, maybe some real time off too. (Kinda translates to my situation too, but, will I take heed...?)

If he WD - does the USGA re-pair the field? I imagine they would keep Tiger and Phil too much press off that already but do they reset the rest - adding another person the the Tiger/Phil show to make it back up to what it was?

If Scott were to withdraw (which I don't think is going to happen), and the tournament hasn't officially started yet, then they would fill his spot with the next available alternate. If the tournament is officiallly underway and he withdraws then they will leave his spot in the group empty, and no one would fill it. They will not re-pair the field until, the weekend, after the cut has taken place.

It doesnt seem like that right pinky does much in the golf grip besides getting in the way. He might be ok if he can immobilze the finger.

I believe the media's perception of relationship between Tiger and PMick is a bit overdone -- yes, they probably won't be walking together and chatting on each hole, but there is mutual respect. I actually think it is a good early pairing for both of them, as they can feed off each other's energy.

So far Scott's swing looks unaffected. His swings off the tee look full and rhythmic to me. He has been putting pretty average, however.

First two days I thought Adam Scott hit the ball pretty well, especially considering the injury. He just doesn't make things happen and that was a nice little two foot stab he missed.

    • Day 521 - 2026-03-06 Got some good work in for 15 minutes or so with someone overseeing. Downswing work.
    • Day 201 3-6 Wider backswing trying to blend it all together for a full swing. Not looking good yet.
    • Day 74 - 2026-03-06 Backswing work out back at the net. Slow.
    • Day 101: did a stack session. Worked on hands down in the mirror during breaks.
    • Got told off yesterday for doing full swings and full speed swings so went to the range this lunchtime and did some slow speed stuff and freezers. A few videos from my session.    First few are DTL then some FO This one is of me looking at the club on the way back. I think I get my arms lifting all the way back, not that you’d know because YouTube keeps glitching on me.    Second one is two slow backswings. This glitches the first one but the glitch looks like a pretty good position so I’ll live. Second one works. Then another swing back and hit. When I’m not watching or really focusing on it it seems that my upper arm doesn’t lift at first, rather stays roughly where it is and I add the lift at the end so the club comes a bit more inside. I think that’s what I’m going to focus on. This one glitches a bit too but it’s really just pausing. This shows the club coming a bit more inside but not as laid off at the top Then a couple of face on ones And lastly one smoothie and one freezer at normal speed  Quite happy with how this went. I can see my arms are better when I take it slower. Also while I’m still pitching my arms out it doesn’t seem to be as extreme as yesterday. Light at the end of the tunnel 🙂
