Do you have random golf tips that might help fellow golfers? This could be swing tips, equipment tips, below are sample of my golf tips:

1) I started playing with superfeet insole that help me walk 18 holes without my feet aching after the round.
2) I spray my shoes with WD-30 to make them water proof.
3) I clean the grooves of my club with tooth picks and water after a round.
4) I select number 1s on my new box of golf balls by switching from other boxes, so I know that I am always playing number 1s.
5) I have a magnetic ball marker that is a minature mp33, the same club I am playing that I bought in Japan. I have seen these same markers on ebay for about $20 - $30 plus shipping.
6) I practice with my wedges within 30 yards to improve my overall tempo.
7) When I want to see where my ball contact with the face of my club. I line up the sharpie mark of the ball so it will make contact with my club and see where the mark is on the club face and make any adjustments during a round of golf, especially with my driver.
8) I don't always play with 14 clubs, this sharpen up my 3/4 swing and half shots.
9) I practice at an open field and not at the driving range
10) I practice near the end of the evening when nobody is around on the course.

What are your golf tips that you want to share with us? Thanks for your replies.

Like anybody should be listening to me ...

1) Tee your ball on the same side that trouble exists (water, OB, etc) and aim away from it.

2) If you have trouble reading L/R green breaks, look way left and right to get the natural rise/fall of the land surrounding the green

3) Soft hands and quiet body on greenside chips

4) Stay behind that driver for a high launch angle and (hopefully) max distance

5) Be the ball, Danny!

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

1) Side hill lies I turn the club face in the direction I need to compensate for and the ball travels straight. ( ball above my feet I open the club face. downhill lies I close the club face)
2) MC Lady balls from Precept are great balls for slow swing golfers for about $7 a box.

Focus on the spot you want the club to enter the sand and not on the ball. May seem obvious to you all, but it was a revelation to me a few days ago. Thank you, Seve!!

I always eat just Cheerios and 2% milk for breakfast before a match or competitive round... keeps my (you know what) in check and allows me to have a healthy round. I always carry a cup (with lid) of ice water and drink 2-3 of them on the front 9.

Gatorade and a banana on the turn, and bring a few packs of saltines (they put em out on the turn) to eat on the 10th hole.. by #11 I'm all set. I've had another cup of water by the 13th, and stop eating/drinking after the 16th if the match is still alive.

1. Make sure you hit the ball before the ground

2. do not take divots whilst chipping

3. get the ball to the f iretr ucking hole

very basic and simple..but changed my game completely and added a whole lot of consistency.

---you swing may not be perfect but your setup can be. have your club sole lying flat on the ground and be 100 percent confident that the grooves are pointing at the target. Hands go on the inside of your left thigh. The length of the club as well as ball position dictate how much forward pressing with the shaft you do.
Standard conditions, not talking knock down shots or trying to work the ball, i put LW-5iron in the middle of the stance. Most people like to put their wedges a little back, but i disagree. If your hands are properly placed at address (left thigh) and the clubface is properly placed on the ground.... you should have no problem with skulling the ball. Putting them back robs you of the height that you would get with the ball in the middle of your stance. Also, putting it forward will only cause you to skull the ball more times than not. Even if you are making some contact now and then, its likely not very consistant. The loft on your wedges are plenty enough to get the ball up in the air.

--In my opinion, big shoulder turns are the key to the golf swing.
Big shoulder turns allow you to make an effortless (80percent energy) swing. They also allow you to drop the club into the slot (inside to outside) swingpath. This creates the most power. There is the argument that even some accomplished pro's dont make full shoulder turns. They are generally talented enough to keep their swing on plane, despite not turning...but i feel the average golfer should learn the full shoulder turn. In essence, you should practice turning so that your left side stays straight (no dipping of your left shoulder) and that when you get to the top of your backswing, your left shoulder has turned to under your chin...some even prefer to go a few inches of more coil. Once you get to that position...its all gravy after that. I feel the two moves...getting the shoulders to fully turn..causing your body to coil...and dropping the hands to the inside on the downswing essentially fixes a lot portion of swing flaws. The only time i think its acceptable to see slices and hooks is when you put "power moves" into your downswing. Things such as exploding your hips open or creating tremendous lag..usually what can cause great players to snap hook it or slice it open. They essentially miss-time those moves...creating ball flight errors. But in general, if you take a big shoulder turn, and a normal stroke at the ball, your ball might not go 310yards...but even with a 100mph swing speed...you can carry your driver about a comfortable 260ish. One last thing, its out of place but im gonna mention it now anyways. The killer of shoulder turns is a stiff right elbow. It needs to be very relaxed at address. Try taking your address with a rail-stiff right arm, and then turn. You really cant get around your body. But with a very lax right elbow, your able to turn very smoothly...just wanted to throw that in there

---When your shot calls for a full swing, pick a club that lets you swing 100 percent.
For goodness sakes, club up. Its embarrasing to watch someone choosing between 2 clubs...pick the shorter one...just sliggggghtly catch it off the sweet spot..and watch it land 10 yards short...when just clubbing up wouldve dunked it into the hole. Im mentioning this assuming that there is worse danger in either direction...of course if the atlantic ocean is the backstop for the hole...probably picking the lower club is the smarter idea.

Shoot for the back of the green. If you miss hit the club you are still on the green. I notice most players come up short the most of the time.

The only exception is maybe water behind the hole or wind helping your shot.

Play conservatively and pick your aggressive shots wisely. Most of us are not quite good enough to go for every pin we can reach or hit drives to the narrowest parts of the fairway. My best rounds always happen when I hit smart shots instead of trying to hit Sportscenter Top Ten shots. There is a time and place to be aggressive, but the conservative play will reduce penalty shots and still let you score well.

Practice hitting your irons at the same yardage. Ex. take 3,5,7,pw and hit them all to 100-115 yards. This helps with control on shots. Especially if you are trying to work on "working" the ball.

really concentrate on all of the little shots around the green... they can really save you if you can get it close and have easy, makeable putts...

1) For Putts walk pass the hole to check for breaks.
2) give your putts and chips a chance to go in by hitting pass the hole.
3) Have a routine you consistenly use for putting, irons and driver shots.
4) Practice you chipping and putting before and after your round.
5) Stretch before and after your round of golf.

Most probably already know this, but it really helped me.......

Find an intermediate target when lining up for a shot. I've always had a tough time lining up at my target and just feeling uncomfortable with my setup.....especially when you have those tee boxes that don't line you up down the fairway. I heard a tip once that helped immensely. Stand behind the ball and look at your target. Find a discolored piece of grass or a leaf or something that is a foot or so in front of the ball that lines up at your target, too. When you address the ball, line up with that intermediate target instead of looking at the green or down the fairway. Many people use this for putting, too, but I don't.

well i have slowly learned that if you hit the ball with teh club... the ball moves

On the serious side, on your drive keep your lower body quite and don't over bend your elbows

Putting
1) If you pulled putts stand taller and keep your hands and arms one piece.
2) Work on distance control on putts and allow for 18 inches pass the hole.
3) 100% guarantee that short putts will not go in.
4) keep your putter low on the backswing and this will help you keep your line.
5) The eyes should be just over the ball.
6) use the same routine for every putt.
7) Say " I am going to make this putt!".
8) come early to the course and spend time with the speed of the greens and make 3 foot putts around the hole.

be positive when playing golf:

1) say you are going to get up and down.
2) say you are going to make this putt.
3) say you are going to hit this fairway or green.
4) say your are going to concentrate on each shot.
5) say you are going to bounce back with a birdie on the next hole.

    • Take this with a grain of salt but, when I see high speed/high leverage freewheeling swings like yours (from your swing video), it makes me think that considering the combo of outward and downward pressure required, you might not be applying sufficient downward pressure through impact. Tendency is more out than down. A good analogy is keeping an inflated ball pushed down underwater in a pool. I think it is the hardest force/pressure component to master.  It's a guess. I also think back pain is a symptom, theoretically speaking.
    • Heron Ridge in Virginia Beach yesterday, hole #7 for those in the area.  Would this box be considered an immovable obstruction with free relief?  (It was in my back swing as the hole was to the left of my ball in the picture.)  You can see that it sits just off the cart path.  How about all the mud and tire tracks?  When I addressed the ball my feet were sinking in wet mud so I took relief for standing water.  Right or wrong?  Thoughts?

    • Not sure how I feel about that. Heckling is always been part of sports and a professional athlete should be able to ignore comments and continue on with their play.  Having said that, historically golf has a higher standard of etiquette. I agree with you that fans who are a problem shouldn’t be tolerated. I think should be removed from the premises in hopes to discourage behavior, but I’m not sure I can justify Rory taking the guys phone from him.
