Seeing all of the replys to this thread talking about paying off debt made me wonder...

How much debt do most of the users here have?

Feel free to ignore the mortgage and car payments (even though they are technically debt as well).

More than I wish I had but thankfully less than some of my friends. Minus the 2 cars, I have roughly $10k. Paying it off though so it's not that bad.

Zero and man it feels great. Both vehicles are paid for and even our house is financed through a trust setup by my wife's grandmother. If we got in a bad money situation (not able to work, etc), we wouldn't even have to worry about the house payment until we were back on our feet.

I think thats the nature of the message board. A lot of young professionals here starting their lives. That means the usual student loans and credit cards. I was there. I wish the best to all those embarking on their careers and wish their loans get paid off swiftly.

Minus the mortgage and cars...nothing.

But it sure doesn't make it easier on the wallet. Mortgage is a pretty penny these days, and so is the wife's German SUV.

Still got barely enough funds to golf and buy equipment when need be.

My college F'ed me out of a lot of money but I now have job that I wouldnt get without it so I guess it was worth it. I think my total for student loans is like $20,000 or so. I have been out 3 years. Not bad considering I went to St. Louis University and tuition is around $30,000 per year.

Other than house and one vehicle loan, we don't have anymore debt. I am going to try and keep it that way.

I have a car payment, wife's school loans and a Mortgage. Car and school should be paid off in 2 years but the Mortgage alone will still keep me over 25K.

If we're not counting the mortgage than I just have a little over $1k in CC debts, all the cars are paid off

Luckily I don't have any debt. I'm in college right now and my parents have paid for everything since I played baseball up until last year. Now that I'm catching up to the maturity party I'm looking for a job so I can save up for myself and one day be able to take care of my parents, not that they need. You could say I'm fully indebted to them.

Well with the truck payment included, about $8800. Thankfully after I turned 18 I had enough mind to not accept every CC offer thrown my way. I actually didn't get my first CC til I was 20yo. I don't expect to get another one till I marry either.

House, one car, and some student loans. No CC debt, no other debt.

I just graduated in May 07, so I have my student loans. I have like a grand on a 0% credit card, that I'll pay off before the 0% ends. Also have a Infiniti G37 that I have monthly payments for. No mortgage yet.

I have a very small mortgage, which I don't pay off for tax reasons. No car, no credit card debt and no student loans. I count myself as very lucky. I'm hardly a spendthrift though. Always prepared for that rainy day.
