I just started golf like 2 months ago and I have been bitten by the game I love it. My worst score has been a 95 and that was the first time I played to last night shooting an 83. Then tonight was my 10th round of golf and on the front nine i shot a 39... right when i went to start the 10th hole... thunder and lighting came around so i had to stop. I felt really good tonight. I just started buying new equipment. I had a set of acuity dicks clubs, i replaced the driver with a brand new callaway 460 9 loft... and replaced the putter with a NFX odyssey 2 ball putter... and now I am trying to replace my irons, which are the best part of my game with a set of real irons compared to these crappy ones. I love this game, I could do it every day. In high school, I hated it, I was 1st team all state in football baseball and wrestling and I actually have a d1 scholarship to uva for wrestling... and since i am not allowed to play any other sports i decided to pick this game up these past couple months and its a lot of fun.

10th round and you shoot a 39? Damn man, I don't know whether to be happy for you or jealous, haha.

You probably shouldnt mention that you broke 100 quickly. Some of the jelous ones on this board will give you negative rep because of it.

Congrats. Breaking 90 is a big accomplishment. Especially after just 3 months!
At this rate your going, you'll be wearing the green jacket in 3 years.

At this rate - try 3 months.

Wow! Thats amazing! A JV golfer played his 10th round a few weeks ago, and shot a 72... on 9! Ouch. Heres a good saying that is applying to you, "When the Tiger is away, the prey comes out to play"! Again, congrats on the amazing scores!

Thats nice game you have there. Today I just played my 9th round myself and I shot a 83 myself which is a huge improvement when two weeks ago I shot over 100. If I can get down like you I'd really feel like I'm on the right path to improving my game. Congrats and also I know that feeling you get after shooting a good round of golf I almost bought a new complete set of clubs. : >

Wow great job.

I have a feeling I'm progressing too slowly for the amount of time I've been playing....

Im hoping that as in tenth round, for all of you, you mean in a year? You didnt just start out, and are breaking 80 after 10 rounds. right? Ive been playing for 6 years, and shoot 84 on average.

just be sure that you are counting all your strokes and not cheating yourself, remember you can be as good as Tiger with your scorecard but it will not help you improve your game.

yea when people tell me what they shoot and ive never played with them i usually dont believe it. A kid i work with started golf about 2 months ago and took a couple lessons and practiced for a while. So when i see him come in from his round i always ask him what he shot and he is always like 39 or 42. So i just say nice round. Now when we got out to play he shoots 62 on 9. Yet he still says he just had a bad day and that he has shot 78 before. He is just lying to himself haha.

why does ur handicap say u r a +7.9 haha?

I was wondering about that too. That seems pretty specific after ten rounds..... Oh well.

    • I don't think anyone will really care.   It's your call.  Just be consistent.
    • I agree, until we are watching the 18th hole in the dark or waiting for the champion to finish and it's been 5+ hours
    • Question for the group. The course I normally play at has 27 holes - 3 9s that they use to for 18 in the various combinations. Is it okay to declare* if I’m playing front or back when I play 9 on this course? I’m figuring I need to declare before I play a shot. *meaning just say to myself that this is the back 9. Curious what people think. Of course, my only holes left are 13 and 17, so I’m going to declare the back 9 for the rest of the year. Probably only one or two more rounds though.
    • This is my opinion as well. I would love to see the LPGA take the lead on this.    This.
    • I agree in general. The one way in which the viewer will notice the pace of play is just that "it's been an hour and Nelly Korda or Scottie Scheffler have only played four holes." Or if for some reason they show a lot of shots of players just standing around when they could be showing golf shots. But I think Andy Johnson said it most recently/best, playing fast is a skill, too. I would love for pro golfers to play faster. You'd see the players you want to see hit more shots in the same time than they do now. So I don't disagree with the pace of play stuff, and hope they can find ways to do it. Heck, the LPGA should leap at the chance to differentiate itself in this way, IMO. So: I stand by what I said in that the TV viewer really doesn't notice much about pace of play. It's rare when they do. I support increasing the pace of play wholeheartedly. But my top five reasons don't include TV ratings or viewership.
