Alan Olson (BigAl5150) and I are looking to play 36 holes somewhere (ideally two different courses) on August 2 within about 2 or maybe 2.5 hours of Erie, PA.

If you're interested in joining us and have some good suggestions on locations, please let me know.

2 to 2.5 hours by plane, or car?

If by plane, I think you could almost make it out here to Reno...

Erik when you wanna trek out 3.5 hours, we can meet somewhere around the 1/2 way mark in PA somewhere.

Since you're in Erie, can you't head on over to Akron, OH? Or is that still too far? Great golf over there.

Down here in East Liverpool, we have Beaver Meadows, Turkana, Cedar Hills, the CC., all under 10 bucks for 9! Carts are 5 bucks more, btu for 18 holes with a cart its only 24, 25 bucks. Not too shabby, I must say. Id be willing to take a few tips from iacas too!

I've heard there are two decent courses over in the Warren area.

Blueberry Hill & Cable Hollow I know nothing about the actual courses other than what I hear and that is they're "fairly nice" and right up the road from each other. I've never actually played them myself.

I would recommend Thunder Hill in Madison, OH if you have not played it yet. Even if you have. A beautifull course and a great challenge.

Then about 20 min west down 90 is Little Mountain which I beleive you did a review of for this site.

About 30 min SW of Thunder Hill is Fowlers Mill Golf Course in Chesterland, OH. A Pete Dye design. Very nice and a good challenge also. Make sure you play the main 18 dont let them put you on the 3rd nine.

Edit:

Have not played it but everyone I know raves about it. The Links at Firestone Farms.

Youngstown also has a few great courses..

Yeah, we may head over that way. I've heard good things about Kennsington. What else?

Akron's a bit too far.

Yeah, we may head over that way. I've heard good things about Kennsington. What else?

Kennsington is supposedly really good, and I've heard, once it matures, they are trying to get it as a PGA stop. (Not sure if its true..)

There is also Old Avalon, and Avalon Lakes..The LPGA used to play at Old Avalon, and it is fairly cheap to play a round. Avalon lakes on the other hand is very expensive, but by FAR the best course in NE Ohio.. Kensington http://www.golflink.com/golf-courses...course=2023056 Old Avalon http://www.golflink.com/GOLF-COURSES...course=1486956 Avalon Lakes http://www.golflink.com/GOLF-COURSES...?course=840845 Two of my favorites, are both great values, IMO first being Mill Creek, 36 holes, and only 5 minutes from my house http://www.golflink.com/Golf-Courses...?course=874245 and Reserve Run http://www.reserverungolf.com/ http://www.golflink.com/golf-courses...course=1504256

Yeah, I've reviewed Avalon Lakes . I'm fairly certain the LPGA Tour used to play there, not at Old Avalon.

Anyway, that trio of courses (Squaw Creek, Avalon Lakes, and the old Sharon CC) are part of a trio of clubs that are somewhat/mostly private. I have a friend there and he'll see about getting us tee times.

Any public courses (like Kennsington) would be appreciated.

I'm not too worried about the price (Alan may be!

), but I've tentatively booked a morning time at Reserve Run and an afternoon time at Kennsington. If we're playing that early, though, I may just book a time at Little Mountain and an afternoon time at Thunder Hill...

East Liverpool. My last post was overlooked, but me and a buddy played 9 with a cart for 28 bucks total. Not too bad, but the gas would even it out. And I wouldnt mind a lesson or two?

    • Thank you.  I'll cross it off the list since it isn't going to achieve what I want.
    • While it does turn out that both Tiger and Phil are less squeaky clean than I previously believed, I don't think golf quite has the worst in professional sports.  Or maybe they're better at image management.   Obviously I'm not fond of Phil's issue we're discussing in this thread (or his involvement with LIV) or Tiger's choices of how to drive.  I used to really like Dustin Johnson and, even before the LIV situation, we started to hear rumors that he bought more snow than Seward, although I don't think those stories were ever substantiated.  Meanwhile, I did think of Anthony Kim as the "good, bad boy" of the tour for a while fifteen years ago because of his party persona -- and if it turns out the worst he did was show up hung over to play (barring what one thinks of LIV), that's pretty good.  And I'm still happy he found a way to get his life clean. If we contrast that with some other sports I enjoy, I'm sure we could find a nice long list of NFL players that, at one point in my life, I was quite fond of, we get far worse disappointments (to put it mildly).
    • Answering that properly would land me in hot water, so I'm not going to. I don't think that many people would do that. I think that in certain circumstances many people would be willing to overlook someone doing that. But I was really referring to what I assumed was Tiger's transgressions (cheating on his wife) not Phil's.
    • No! Is a large part of the human population selfish, apathetic and cuts corners in the name of self-preservation 'more than they would like to admit', yes. Degenerate, scum, etc?.. no!! Most humans/men would not grope a woman like Phil is accused of doing (I think he absolutely did). That is scum. I mean what % of men do you think would do that? Seriously??
    • I don't think that is true at all. That is off-topic here, I think.
