Just as my feelings for Wie were starting to turn towards the positive side, she decided to play in another PGA Tour event. It's ridiculous.

Here Wie go again. :/

Actually, I think its ridiculous. If you are looking forward to seeing her play then good for you but overall... she needs to get her head and game straight before pulling anymore stunts like this.

Her parents, managers, handlers, etc need a reality check.

Ditto all of the above.

Hmmm...guess I should have stated that I didn't think she should be playing in the event. I just am going for the eye candy...hence the drool smiley...

I also echo the above statements though

My thoughts exactly. This is just a stupid move on her part.

I can't say what's cool for you but when I saw her in the 84 Lumber Classic (Sept. 2006) she shot 77-81, missed the cut by 13 or 14 strokes, finished dead last (among the players who completed the 1st two rounds) and was outdriven by huge distances by the players in her group, players who were not noted for their distance off the tee. It took my buddy & me about four holes to realize Michelle Wie on the PGA Tour is a side-show and not a very good one at that.

I bet the pga tour regulars don't appreciate an event being turned in to a freak show- its a bad idea for a variety of reasons.

You know we are talking about the Legends Reno-Tahoe Open, right? This is the tournament that runs parallel to the Bridgestone tourney in Ohio...

What difference does that make? It's still a PGA-sanctioned event with good payers. In reference to her decision, I echo what has generally already been said.

I think what he's saying is that this is one of the weaker fields for a PGA event. I'm sure the organizers think this will bring some attention to their event and Wie hopes the competition will not be as stiff.

I would love to know how some of the LPGA players feel about this.

Is there anyone out there with common sense that can advise this young woman? She hurt her wrist trying to hit with the men and missed a lot of checks because of it. Anika was the best female golfer at the time and could not make the cut at a hand picked men's tournament. Let's stop the fantasy that a girl can beat the boy's. Michelle should play at women's tours and show how good she is a being a female golfer.

when she is beating the women the majority of the time, then she can play in mens events. how can she think she's good enough when she has done nothing on the womens tour?

My exact thoughts. I know the sponsors of an event have exemptions they can pass out as they please, but there should be some standards that the PGA could put into place so this could not happen. I'll not watch it.

this make for great entertainment, and will bring lots and lot of attention to a tiger-less tour. If you think Wie and her family/handlers are the only ones responsible for this, you are kidding yourselves. I'll bet the Golf Channel competes with whatever network is broadcasting the WGC Champs on this one.

And as for Michelle? I admire her moxie - I'm sure she is fully aware of the chances she is taking.

Uh, I think she hurt her wrist after a fall while running.

Why should she play womens tours only when she has made it clear that she thinks she can compete with the men? If there are opportunites to realize your dreams, don't you think you should take advantage of those opportunites. Did you hope that Rocky was going to lose or hope that Rudy would not make the Notre Dame football team. I think we applauded those guys for their courage and determination. Wans't it great to see Villanova beat Georgetown, the Giants beat the Patriots, the Jets beat the Colts, USA hockey beat Russia. I look forward to watching the story unfold this week!

If she could compete with the men then yes, it would be great to watch. But she can't, she'll likely miss the cut by a good margin and make a fool of herself. I mean, she hasn't even won on the women's tour yet, lets get a start there before we try out the men's tour. And maybe this is one of her dreams but thats not the entire reason that she's playing on the men's tour. In my opinion, the main reason why she keeps getting these chances are because it is a big story in the media (sponsors love it too) and her attempts to compete with the men get serious airtime, or at least they did.

    • Day 132: did some mirror work while watching TV. Worked on backswing stuff primarily.
    • 26 Nov 24 -  It was not a record breaking round by any means, but rather a simple walking of the back nine today playing TBWB (two ball-worse ball) where the challenge is to play the worse of the two shots played - could be an errant drive from the woods, a tree knocked ball that is 100 yds farther back down the fairway, a nGIR ball as opposed to a GIR….the goal today was to stay no worse than bogie thru nine.  Managed to achieve that goal - bogied 7 holes with one dbl and one par to counter the dbl.  It’s about staying focused and not letting a bad shot or lie derail, but rather be an opportunity.
    • Day 208 (26 Nov 24)- Opted to walk 9 today (was the back nine as they had a huge group going off the front) but instead of it being persimmons and blades, I had the regular gamers but made it a TBWB (two ball-worst ball) round.  This really challenges on several fronts - ball striking to be as consistent as possible, course management from non-optimal lies and keeping your head in it as it can be depressing to nail a shot on line-on target and the second rattles the trees right and it’s over 50 yards back and that’s the one you have to play.  The goal was to be no worse than bogie overall (+9).  Finished the round exactly on the number with some solid recoveries, no penalty strokes and only one 3-putt.
