Wow, interesting set you're carrying there.

I hate my gap wedge, it's an old Cleveland and I've just never warmed up to it. Haven't used it in so long I took it out of the bag recently. It's allowed to me become much more handy and versatile with my PW. I kind of like it.

I did not realize that I can stuff so many club in my small golf bag but I managed.

I always wanted to play a round with only 3 to 5 clubs of your choice and see how you can adjust and play choke down, half, 3/4 and punch shots to cut distance off your clubs.

I think this experience can only improve you overall game or................... lead you to drink.

Back when I used to play on par-3s all the time, it was pretty common to see people playing with only 3 clubs: 3-wood, 7-iron and putter.
Infact, a lot of them didnt even carry a golf bag. They merely kept the balls and tees in their pockets and carried the clubs in their hand.

Bring an extra iron and take out the driver. The 3W can take on the driver's duties + you can hit it off the deck.

Some hot shot in my league came out this past Wednesday with five clubs (I don't know which ones). He's nearly a scratch player, shot 46, and lost his match. He's kind of loopy to begin with, but this backfired on him. I've never tried it, but wouldn't hesitate to give it a shot sometime -- just not in a competition.

There are a couple of shorter courses around here that I have taken 3, 5, 7-pw, sw and putter (I would probably sub a hybrid/9 wood for the 3 now) and actually scored better or no worse than normal. It is fun to fade, draw, or choke up to get the ball where you need it instead of just pulling a club and taking a swing. I think it kinda takes the pressure off and helps you to swing smooth. And really, how many par 5s can you not get to in three with a 3 and two 7s? Good luck.... jmoc

I have ten in the bag. See sig.

I found that for many rounds I was not using some clubs. Combine that with searching for what works and improving course management, the result is now 10 clubs. They'll stay there for the rest of the summer.

FWIW, I shot an 82 on Thursday. So I'm pretty stoked.

you dont use a 3,4,5,6 iron?

i would bring all my irons driver and putter. im a iron man and that is where all the magic happens. par 5 for you are still 3 shots, so you dont need the wood, but maybe the hybrid.

Sorry, should have said Irons, the 3 and 5 are not woods. A lot of the holes on these shorter courses are 325-375 yards so 200 off the tee is plenty to keep me in scoring range. That gives me 8 clubs and I perfer the wedges to the 4 and 6 iron as the wedges save me more strokes per round than the irons do, but that's just me.... jmoc
