Kinda cool topic to start I think:

Do you guys have any celebrities golf at your home club from time to time? If so, who?

At my old home club, the local skate sharpener guy at my Arena went to Arizona (I think?) to golf at a country club where he was alone, the starter told him he would be paired up. Who did he get paired up with? Alice Cooper.

They became great friends after golfing together, and whenever Alice Cooper is in my home town he golfs at my old country club: Rossmere CC

I was golfing at the time he was but never had the chance to see him. Theres alot of fans always crowding around the 18th green waiting for him to finish.

Really cool to see this kind of thing. Share your story!

Alice Cooper and golf.

Now there's two things that I would have never thought would go together.

The Blue Angels played there (my home course) a "couple" of years ago. There is a photo of the Blue Angels in formation, signed by each of the Blue Angels, hanging on the wall.

If they Blue Angel pilots aren't celebrities, they ought to be.

We had Nick Faldo, Angel Jimenez and of course Bernhard Langer playing - i guess that sorta counts as "golf" celebs ;). Funny thing - i almost spend all my time at the golf course, but i missed all occassions when these guys played.

My home course used to have something called the Greater Erie Charity Classic. Then it moved to Kahkwa, then it became a Nationwide Tour event at Peak 'n Peek.

Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino, Chi Chi Rodriguez, Gary Player - all sorts of old pros would play there in the 60s and 70s.

John Daly was first heard of by us in the Erie area the summer he won the PGA when he won at Kahkwa.

My old club has some local news personalities but that was about it...Fairly often I'd play at a friends club and they had a wealthy local businessman who was well known in the UK (owner of a top division football club, founder of AutoTrader) as a member. I saw him there a couple of times and he came to my school occasionally. Had lunch with the guy too.

Dennis Haysbert is a member at my club. So is Duffy Waldorf. There are a couple of local news guys that play here too, Rob Fukuzaki and Philip Palmer. That's about it for famous people. We are in "The Valley", the world's adult entertainment home. Randy West used to be a member here, but moved to either Florida or Vegas (can't remember which) a few years back. There are a few other people in "the business" at my club. Being in L.A. we get a few celebs and sprts figures out. James Caan, Fernando Valenzuela, Jason Biggs to name a few. Poker pro Phil Ivey was out about a month ago. I was totally star struck, acted like a dork.

I play at Nudgee GC in Brisbane. Scott Hend (longest drive average PGA Tour 2006 I think) played all of his junior golf here and was club champ several times. Anyway when he is back in Oz he often plays back at Nudgee. The 18th is a 377m par 4 behind which is the visitors carpark. Last time he was home he drove his ball into the carpark!!! No dogleg, little if any wind assistance. True story, made the newspapers etc. Amazing

I don't belong to this club, but there is a nice country club in my town, and I went out with a friend who is a member, and we played with Otis Anderson and Otis' friend. If you do not know who Otis Anderson is, he won the Super Bowl MVP with the Giants in the early 90's. Great Running back for years. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otis_Anderson

He was a really nice guy, a HUGE hitter, he hit it 320 consistantly, although, he was a really big guy too lol. But a very nice guy, fun to play with, and a pretty decent player. He probably shoots high 80's to low 90's. Pretty good for a celebrity.

I live close to camp david presidential retreat, the course is maple run, its not really nice but its ok but, pres. clinton used to play there, martin sheen i believe played there too they filmed a part from the westwing on the golf course

i used to work at the grocery store in thurmont till i got promoted and changed stores, but this guy from camp david used to come in to get food for the troops up there and occasionally the president, apparently clinton had a lil par 3 put in up there at least he says i dunno how true it is, he said there is a horseshoe pit and they imported the sand from a different country or something HAHA its especially funny when he would tell me stories about bushs daughters coming up and drinking them dry

God, I'm probably the biggest celebrity at my course.
I actually might have the oldest living person at my course.
That'd be sick if someone famous came.

    • Day 34 (14 Dec 25) - Got outside for a few moments to work on bump and runs with the 4h (again using the exaggerated weight shift reminder of the left (lead) heel). Finding that it helps keep the downswing arc extended.

    • I am currently playing a Cobra Ltdx LS 9 degree driver and Cobra Ltdx LS FW3. Both with Tensei White stock stiff shafts and original weights of 12g (heel) and 3g (toe). My miss is usually a pull fade or sometimes a slice, swing is out to in. Driver swing speed about 112 mph. Grips are stock regular. Intended change: Driver: Switching to Tensei White x-flex one inch shorter which I suppose would be 44,5? Changing heel weight to 18g. Changing grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Change hosel setting to standard draw. FW3: Changing heel weight to 16g (apparently not available in FW weights, but supposed to be something called "internal weight" a club builder can add which fits between the weight and the screw?). Change grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Changing hosel setting to standard +1. The goal is to 1) get better grip since I tend so lose grip in warm and moist conditions with the current grips and 2) mitigate the misses to start more straight with less side spin. Also considering adding the Cobra Ltdx LS FW5 instead of my old Taylormade R9 and getting 14g heel and 6g toe weights with the same grip as the others and hosel setting standard +1.   All of the above is based on conversations with ChatGPT and, as everyone knows, it can come up with pretty much whatever but I spent a few hours asking about different perspectives etc and this was the recommendation. So, my question is basically, does it make any sense?   Thanks.
