I have popped my collar before, lets be honest though, what you gna do about it? (only joking btw, Although I have popped my collar, purely to avoid sun burn)

Belts in golf can be a big fashion statement, I like to look good on the golf course and a belt can make/break a particular outfit, imo.

Are people really that concerned with what belt they wear to play golf? That's absolutely amazing to me. To each their own I guess, but come on people. Let me guess, you all have popped collars too.

I like to have a good belt. However not so much on the popped collar.

I'm beginning to build a belt collection. And starting to get a little more open to anything other than brown or black. But, I will never, ever, own a white belt. Maybe one with white in it, but plain white, n~o. I look for belts with texture. A webbed belt or stamped leather designs. Different materials too.

I just ordered a white one yesterday after seeing them everywhere at the matchplay. To be fair I've just bought a nice pair of white eccos that needs a matching belt... at least that's what I'm telling myself

I love belts and belt buckles. They fall just behind watches in my accessory collection. I wear anything from a huge cowboy one with a bull skull to a very basic black/white reversable one that I picked up at Golfsmith on clearence. I was recently drawn to a kiosk at the mall where they had a ton of really cool buckles. Then I walked around to the other side and saw all of their watches and ended up with a watch instead. I have a great Sean John one, although I think P. Diddy is a complete ass. One of my favorites is one i will not wear to the golf course. It says F*** Off, without the *'s about 20 times on it in various scripts. It's more of my feel good belt.

I have a small belt collection, but I'm not a fan of big buckles or white belts. I just like them nice and simple. I have a couple by Ferragamo and Gucci (have to match the shoes ), as well as Perry Ellis and Hillfiger. And yes... straight guys are allowed to dress nice.

Cheers, Allan

As a simple, gentlemanly, foppish rule of fashion - the belt must always match the shoes; just like, one is never supposed to button the bottom button on a waist coat or vest.

So, if you’re going to wear all-white spikes, you are going to have to wear an all-white belt. And there’s nothing wrong with that, unless you wear those all-white spikes after Labor Day.

I actually saw some reversible belts that were interesting (white/black) and even one that was blue/white - a little aggressive but fun

I just got a Nike Belt that is reversible, black and white. It is a really nice belt. I havent actually used the white side yet but its always there as an option. It was a good purchase definately better than my black Kenneth Cole belt.

    • Agreed, the way the rule reads is, "If the player’s ball in play is in the teeing area after A stroke."  It states A stroke, not the FIRST stroke on that hole. It specifies this applies to missing the ball and a drive that does not leave that teeing area but does not make a provision for any other stroke. The rules however define the teeing area as "The area the player must play from in starting the hole they are playing." and further states that "All other teeing locations on the course (whether on the same hole or any other hole) are part of the general area." The way I read it is if your ball comes to rest on the tee box you started the hole from you can re-tee it, but not from another tee box on that hole or another hole. An interesting way I think someone could use this rule is if they topped a drive then topped a fairway wood, and had let's say 300 in from a terrible lie, not confident they can get a fairway wood in the air. If the tee box is back on the line for an unplayable drop, they could drop in the tee box and re-tee. Super specific instance, and am not sure if the rule applies after a drop and not a stroke...
    • For clarity, and my edification, if the ball leaves the teeing area, hits something (a tree perhaps) and bounces back into the teeing area, can you retee? I think you can, but I'm not 100% sure. Further, if you skewer one into trees right near the tee, then attempt to play it out of those trees and it hits one of the trees and rebounds back into the teeing area, can you retee? That one I'm not sure about at all.   Edit: looks like it doesn't matter how the ball got there - if it's in the teeing area then you can retee it and move it. So that's a new answer to the "when can you move the ball closer to the hole?" question.
    • Right and in this instance, it's probably not unreasonable, given that the people doing this likely play matches against each other under those rules, so they should within their group have handicaps consistent with how they play. If they play anyone who's not willing to accept the "within the leather" thing, then they're only hurting themselves. IMO vanity caps are only an issue if handicap is determining eligibility for something and someone better, but with a higher index is squeezed out as a result.
    • OK, I didn't think gimmies were allowed in stroke play.
    • You can post your most likely score, Matt. That's fine.
