It's hilarious....my son is loving the game more than I expected.

He's smashing some 340 yard drives out there with Super Tiger like it's nothing.

We're still struggling with the putting....you really have to keep your eye on the scale.

I got the PS3 version early Tuesday morning and have won a few tournaments and am halfway through the Furyk challenge. Unfortunately I'm at a friends and haven't gotten to see the game on my HD tv or played online yet. So far I like the challenge series more than last years. I haven't really been able to compare the graphics yet.

I think the club tuner and constantly changing skillsets are great, and there are a lot of cool and wacky items available in the pro shop. Prices in the pro shop are much more expensive this year which makes you save up and keep your equipment a little longer. Overall I'd give it a 8.5 as of right now without being able to see it in HD or play online yet.

Anyone have it? How do you feel about it? Any comments?

Honestly this game is starting to annoy me a little. I still like it, but the amazing reception I gave the game at first is fading away.

-Does it annoy anyone else how much your ability can be taken away? I just demolished everyone the first few days I had the game, but now I'm struggling a little, and it really doesn't help that my Short Game (although not so bad) has dropped to something ridiculous like a 5.6.

-Maybe it's just in my game, but in the PGA Tour Season, Tiger wins literally every single event he wins, unless I do. I usually simulate the first 2 or sometimes even 3 rounds of a tournament, but I'm going to have to stop doing this when I have to overcome a 15 stroke deficit every time with Tiger. I'm pretty sure he now has a permanent lead in the FedEx Cup standings.

-Does it bother anyone else that in the US Open and The British Open, the winning scores are like -20? I'm playing on a difficulty where I have trouble, but the computers are breezing through it. I'm not bad at this game, my first round for this game coming off a 10 month Tiger Woods hiatus was a 54 at TPC Sawgrass with my man Ian Poulter.

So I try to play Saturday and Sunday as opposed to just Sunday at the UK Championship on my game. So now instead of Sunday, Tiger shot a 59 on Saturday as well at St. Andrews to have something like a 10 stroke lead. He'll do it on Sunday too.

Trust me, the only golfers I love more than Tiger are Ian Poulter and myself, but this is just ridiculous. I thought I was good at this game.

It can, but all you have to do is play better.

Why would you sim the first three rounds???

That's funny, my short game rating is the lowest rating by about 3 full points. Very annoying, especially when you finish a round at St. Andrews with 30mph wind gusts and it drops your accuracy and short game ratings for not hitting all the greens and chipping to within 2 feet of the pin every time.

Also in match play, sometimes my opponent will hit it into the water repeatedly (same spot) until they hit the stroke limit.

Why would you sim the first three rounds???

Because it gets a little boring playing it out. Trust me, I'd kill to play four consecutive rounds at St. Andrews, but not on Playstation.

All right, right now I'm f**king gutted and a bit pissed at this game! One thing that has always bothered me about the TW series is that when you're playing on the tour, it seems the computers' scores aren't relevant to what they're playing. I know this a lot to ask, but I mean it would be so cool if you were playing at The Players, for instance, and you could look on the leaderboard to see you have a one stroke lead over Tiger, "Through 16." So then you can say, "All right, well he can certainly drop strokes here!" But nope, it's random. I thought I finally beat the almighty computer. I had a 2 stroke lead on Tiger going into 18 at St. Andrews, where he was too. I was -24, he was -22, which is ridiculous enough. I hit a pretty bad drive, but recover well enough to make par. I felt pretty good with my effort, I think I finally had it beat. Then the leaderboard came up, where I learned that Tiger had shot a hole in one on the 370 yard par 4 18 hitting into the wind at St. Andrews, with a hole protected by OB and Bunkers. God damn it. He is now 11/11 this year, and I'm 2/5, the three I didn't win all top 10s, or 15s at least. Tiger now is leading the FedEx Cup leaderboard by 28,121 points, as he has 42,588, and I am in second with 14,467. I mean, I know the man's good, but come on. I'm not even on the hardest difficulty either.

I don't know. I play Tour Pro and haven't won a tournament by any less than six shots.

Par at the home hole at St. Andrews? You've gotta birdie just about every time.

Well I'm on the third round of the PGA Championship, I decided to play all four. I'm starting at -6, the leaders finished the third round at -11. Tiger is nowhere to be found yet, but I'm sure he'll shoot 55 today and end up winning by 10.

I tried it on the Wii, but couldn't for the life of me get the ball to fade or draw in the tutorial. I had to awkwardly twist the controller almost 180 degrees to get a tiny bit of fade. This was on hard level and I tried it with two different controllers.
Putting on 2008 was waaayy to easy compared to the PC, so i'm stoked they upped the difficulty level.. as well as all the difficulty settings that can now be tweaked independently.

Wanted to try again later, but got addicted to PGA 2008 on the PC. I am tearing up the amateur circuit right now on expert level. Love the way it won't give you your distances, so you have to practice and keep a sheet of carry and roll for all clubs and shot selections. Learned quite a bit about course management too as my computer guy is now hitting the exact same distances I do in real life.

Too bad EA decided to skip 2009 for the PC. I read EA will release the next version on PC again.

What game are you talking about? PGA for the computer? You mean Tiger 2008?

i never liked Tiger Woods golf that much .. from the PC to the XBox versions ..

What I really miss is Links LS ... that one was the best .. all the online tournaments .. the gameplay was realistic as well.

I wish they'd bring that one back .. Microsoft bought out the company that made it, then stopped making the game :(

    • Day 133 - Played 9 again. Driver was great, putting was better, but shots inside 100 were awful.
    • Day 36: 15 balls, same as last few days. Then a little indoor putting.
    • hey guys, sorry about the kind of short notice, but i'm not going to be able to make it to the outing this year....
    • Had to correct the distance - should have read 5,400 not 5,500  yds.
    • Had to report this one - played Minnesott again today with my son.  We played behind the Friday Men's group and had a decently paced round.  My round started off par-par-bogie.  I was feeling good to be +1 through three.  Played the next two par - par and then disaster hits - well I thought it may be the unravelling of +1 through five.  Tee shot on six is a hard pull hook into the ditch separating four and six.  I know the ball is lost and re-tee - hitting three off the tee on this par five.  Long story short - what should have been at worst a bogie became a triple 8.  Now I'm +4 through six holes.  Get a solid par on seven (which I celebrated as a solid recovery hole).  Eight is a birdie and I'm back to three over.  Nine, a par 3 over water, finishes par for a 39 front.   We roll to the back to where I birdie ten (the toughest hole on the back) to be -1 after the first hole on the back, +2 for the round.  Par eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen and fifteen - that was an in the zone moment.  Have to note that fourteen - the second par 3 on the back - I hit the tee shot just short right of the flag.  Easy pitch with the 56 should put me close for a tap in par.  It does not happen - as I duff the pitch to about 3yds closer.  I reset and this time I nip it nicely only to see it land and slowly roll to the cup and drop in for a chip-in par save ( a first).   We get to sixteen and I am thinking this could be a really good round.  It's also a par 5 and I hit a solid tee shot.  I'm about 220 from the center of the green and figure I can layup with the 3w as there is a nice landing area in front of the green and it would play nicely into the typical distance I hit this club.  I'm sitting about 50 yds from the flag to the right hand side.  I overcook the 56 and see the ball bounce off the back of the turtle green.  I hit an easy 56 again to see the ball roll to the other side of the green.  Long story it became a 3putt double.  Now I am +4 through sixteen.  The last two holes are solid pars - one an up and down, the other a GIR two putt. Finished the back 1 over at 37.  Total score is a 76!  A new personal best.  Best "all around" play through the bag to date.
